Circle of Friends
The above are hosting a Table Quiz in aid of Longford Hospice in Longford Rugby Club on Friday, 14th March at 8.30pm. Tables €40 for table of four. Raffle on the night with lots of prizes.
AGM: Many thanks to everyone who took the time to attend our AGM. We got through a lot of work and have decided on our next fundraising event. We will be hosting a Table Quiz in the ‘98 Bar on Friday the 28th March. Put the date in your diary, spread the word more details to follow in the coming weeks.
Cemetery Update Further to last week’s announcement that graves are now available for sale, we wish to remind you that graves are available for sale at the reduced rate of €700 for a three grave family plot, €470 for a two grave family plot and €235 for a single grave until 1st July 2014. After 1st July graves will revert to the standard prices of €900, €600 and €300. Twinning with Essert in France
Well done to the group of musicians and dancers who travelled to Essert this weekend as part of the St. Patricks Festival in Essert, France. As part of the twinning we will be welcoming our friends from Essert this July and anyone who wishes to host our friends please contact Paddy on 0879613312.

Moyne Community School Reunion
A reunion for the class of 1987 - 1992 will be held in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva on Saturday night, March 15th at 8pm. It is a great opportunity to catch up with your old school mates and a fun night is guaranteed.
The Frolics are on in Ballyjamesduff
A number of people in the Drumlish/Ballinamuck Area are long-term fans of the “Frolics” in Ballyjamesduff. Frolics-Forever Young started on March 7th this year and will run until March 16th (except Mondays). In case you miss out the booking number is 049-8553330 from 10am – 5pm daily. You are guaranteed a most enjoyable evening.
Drumlish Tidy Town’s Monster clean up was a fantastic success. In excess of 30 turned out and the verges are green and clean once again. In excess of 100 bags of litter was collected weighing 1/2 a ton and 60 of those bags were filled between Kilnashee and Mulleadys Civic amenity. Drumlish Tidy Town’s thank all who responded to the appeal for help- the job could not have been accomplished without you. Sincere thanks too to Scott Buchanan and company at The Tavern who provided the refreshments after the event - appreciated by all.
Longford County Choir
Advance notice of upcoming choral concert at St. Mary’s Church, Drumlish on Sunday, 4th May next (Bank Holiday weekend). This fundraiser is for the marking of Heritage in this historic village. More anon.

Cairn Hill Challenge
The 2nd Annual Cairn Hill Challenge 10 mile and 10km Road Race will take place on Sunday, May 3rd starting out at Drumlish Community Centre and taking the same routes as last year. In conjunction with this years’ event, an informal walking/running/ jogging group is being organised. This fun group will act as preparation for the big race and getting fit generally. It will start on February 11th at 7pm at Drumlish Community Centre and will be led by expert coach Brendan Doyle from Longford. This is a wonderful opportunity for runners, walkers, joggers and athletes of all abilities to get together and get fit in a relaxed setting while preparing for the May Bank Holiday. Lennon: Anthony(Tony) Lennon RIP, late of Tooting, London and formerly Kilmahon, Drumlish. Internment of ashes will take place at Kilmahon Cemetery following 2pm Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church Drumlish on Wednesday March 19th.
Cassidy: The death took place recently at her residence 18 Balbriggan Rd, Skerries and formerly Aughadowry, Ballinamuck of Mary Cassidy. To her family - Monica, Clare, Kieran, Mary, Kevin, Brendan, John and Martha, brother Pat (Battery Rd. Longford), nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy.
McDonnell: The death took place on Saturday last at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford of Larry McDonnell, Gaigue, Ballinamuck.
