Once again medals were presented to our Community Games participants. This week our Under 13 Fustal Girls received silver medals. Unfortunately they came up against a very well drilled South Longford team. Despite putting up a great show they had to settle for second place. Team members were Sophie Kiernan Molloy, Molly Niamh Burke, Ava Donohoe, Caoimhe Lynch. Sinéad O’Reilly and Aoife Leonard. Well done girls and we look forward to seeing you all next year. Following the exploits of the girls it was the turn of our Under 13 boys in the same sport. They were pitted against host club Kenagh. Getting of f the mark very quickly they took control of the game with some excellent passages of play. With everyone getting on the score sheet we advanced to the semifinal. The opposition was Clonguish. In a close encounter the South Longford outfit got off to the better start taking an early lead. However a magnificent free kick from Ciarán Scanlon made it 1-1 at half time. Unfortunately we took our eye off the ball for a split second and were down a goal. An unlucky deflection made it 3-1 before Cathal Gillian pulled one back. The lads played some excellent football. However with time running out they lost out on a place in the final. Well done to all concerned. We compliment Aidan for his time and effort with the team. They were certainly well prepared for the occasion. Appreciation is expressed to parents and mentors for travelling with the team. Team members were Logan O’ Reilly, Connor Leonard, Cathal Gillian, Ciarán Scanlon, Cian O’ Reilly, Brian Masterson and Caolán Lynch.
