The Pre-Confirmation Ceremony of Light and Reconcilation takes place this Wednesday the 12th of March at 7.30p.m. The candidates for Confirmation and their fathers and mothers are expected to be present. Each child should bring his/her Baptismal. Bishop Francis Duffy visited the Confirmation classes at St. Mary’s National School on Thursday last.
During Lent, Mass will be celebrated at 7a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning on Ash Wednesday. This arrangement will give a greater number of people the chance to come to Mass during Lent.
Newtowncashel Tidy Towns holds it’s March meeting in The Hill, this Wednesday the 12th of March, at 8p.m.
The Junior Choir will rehearse in the Church this Saturday, the 15th of March from 5.30p.m to 6.30p.m in preperation for ‘Do this in Memory’ on Sunday the 23rd March. Please note the earlier date for the rehearsal due to Confirmation on Saturday the 22nd March.
Well done to the Cashel Clubmen, Andrew Farrell and Gavin Kelly, who on Wednesday last beat Laois after extra time in the Leinster U-21 Football Championship.T hey meet Bublin in the semi-final at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Wednesday 19th of March at 7.30p.m.
St Patrick’s Day
This year’s theme for the Longford St. Patrick’s Parade, which commences at 12.30p.m. is ‘Longford Arts and Culture’. St. Fáithleach’s G.A.A. car park is the starting point for the Lanesboro/Ballyleague parade at 2.30p.m. Entries close this Wednesday 12th of March. We wish to extend a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all those from Cashel, both at home and abroad, and hope you all have a wonderful day and indeed, weekend on our National Holiday.
Successful Ploughing bootcamp
Spring was in the air on Saturday afternoon in Brian and Tess Doyle’s field. A meithil of fourteen ploughs gathered for the annual Novice Ploughing Match. With conventional and vintage ploughs in action, spectators enjoyed seeing older machines in action and recalled memories of farming in times past. A very exciting week in the Egan household when John, Alan and their family arrive from Queensland for the wedding on Friday of Fiona and Kevin.
Congratulations to Alan and Michelle Egan on the birth of their first child, a little boy, Conor. Also to John and Andrea Egan on the birth of their second child, a little girl, Shyla, aussie cousins to Fiona and Kevin’s twins, Jay and Leah.
