The annual children’s Halloween party will be held at the Island Bridge on Thursday evening week at 6pm. Preparations are under way to make it the success it has been in previous years. This is a joint venture by the KDDA, the Royal Canal group and the Wetlands Development. The evening will have events such as bonfire, music , story telling, fire works etc. Children and adults are invited to come in fancy dress in keeping with Halloween. Refreshments will be served for grown ups with seasonal fare for children. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the event is very much dependent on suitable weather. A small donation will be very welcome to help cover expenses.

Congratulations and best wishes to Karen Kenny, daughter of Eddie Joe and Myrtle of Abbeyderg and Anthony McLoughlin, Quigleys Point Dongeal who were married on September 28th in Saint Augustines Church Galway city. Matron of honour was Elyse Kenny, best man was Donal Lynch. The wedding reception was held in Cloughan Castle, Kilchreest which was attended by a large gathering of friends and relatives of bride and groom. The honeymoon is being enjoyed in Croatia and Montenegro. Karen was delighted to have her school pals Brenda McKeogh and Deirdre McCormack who travelled from New York to be with her on her big day. We wish the happy couple many years of wedded bliss.

Book launch

Former Kenagh man and retired TD Paddy McCormack wishes to thank all his former school pals and many friends who attended his book launch in Gav’s Bar last Friday night. It was a very successful and most enjoyable night for the one hundred and fifty patrons who attended. Paddy was thrilled with having met so many of his GAA team mates and old friends, many of whom he hadn’t met for almost fifty years. He had a special welcome for Kevin Farrell who travelled over from Manchester for the event. He also wishes to thank Michael Ring TD who launched the book along with Colm Murray, Louise Belton, his MC P Egan, Tony Moran for music and Tess Doyle and staff who looked after refreshments.
