He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Nora, his son David and daughter Sinéad. Deeply regretted by his aunt, uncle, cousins, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, neighbours, friends and former colleagues. Your prayers are also requested for Edward O’Reilly, Bawn, Kilcogy who died peacefully at the General Hospital, Cavan on Wednesday, 16 October, and Michael Reynolds, Oldcastle, who died on Saturday 12 October and Molly Cooke, Castletown, Finea, who died on Tuesday 15 October. They will be sadly missed by their loving families, relatives, neighbours and friends. May they rest in peace.

Mass for the Dead
On Friday 8 November in Abbeylara at 7.30pm for all who died in our Parish since this time last year. And also those including former parishioners who died outside our parish but with family members and / or relations living in our parish.

A fundraising night will be held in Crawford’s Lounge Abbeylara on Saturday 26 October in aid of the Street Children of India Fund. There will be a raffle held on the night with a number of valuable prizes up for grabs. Music will be by Mary O’Connor. Your support would be very much appreciated.
Gallant 15km Challenge
The 10th annual Gallant 15km Challenge in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice Cavan takes place Saturday 26 October 2013. The main sponsor is MacManus Pharmacies Cavan. People can walk, run or cycle the 15km from Cavan to Cornafean or choose the smaller course of Ballinagh to Cornafean. Over the previous nine years the Challenge has been an outstanding success raising 262,000 euro for this wonderful cause. An information officer from Co. Longford Citizens Information Service is available at Granard Area Action Group Office Main Street Granard each Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
A Diary is available at Granard Area Action Group office to enable local voluntary groups and fundraising events to log their forthcoming activities for the year so as to help co-ordinate events successfully and to avoid duplication where possible.
Due to renovations Granard Branch Library has relocated to Rath Mhuire Resource Centre at Barrack Street, Granard. It will operate each Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
In an effort to raise finance and in order to ensure that Granard will have Christmas lights for the streets of the town during the festive season a Fundraising night will be held in the Bay Horse on Saturday 26 October. There will be music and a fancy dress on the night with prizes of €500, €300 and €200. There will also be other various Spot prizes on the night. Tickets are on sale at €5 each or a book of 20 for €100 in various shops and from committee members. A great night’s entertainment and laughter is guaranteed!!
Former employees of Iralco Ltd who reside in the Granard, Abbeylara, Killashee and Longford town areas, should note that a reunion of past employees takes place in the Hotel Castlepollard on Saturday night, 26 October. There will be music on the night, which will be followed by a disco. Finger food will also be served. Tickets are €10 each and can be sourced locally.
Novena to Our Lady
The Annual Novena to prepare for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary begins in St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Wednesday, 23 October at 7.30p.m. The Novena will run for 9 Wednesday nights in preparation for the Birth of Christ.

Congratulations to our U16 Juveniles who were gallant losers to Longford Slashers on Sunday, 13 October in Pearse Park in the County Longford U16 Juvenile Football Final Replay. Well done to all the panel of players, Management, Club and all others involved. The Quare Land
Bunlahy Area Action Group will host a play “The Quare Land” in the Community Centre in Granard on Friday night November 8 and full details will be announced later. Tickets are now on sale from committee members.

We would like to thank the C.E and Tus members already here and welcome the new member of C.E to our village, already there is a sign of their presence all over the place at this busy time of year, with grass still growing and leaves falling etc. There is so much to be done, we would welcome a little support from the local residents, whereby each of us should clean the pathway and gather up leaves outside their homes and leave the village nice and tidy.
