The Colmcille 15th annual ploughing festival and heritage day event will be held on Sunday 18 August 2013 on the lands of Gene and Bernedette Reilly, Smear, Aughnacliffe Co Longford. Ploughing for all classes, old time kitchen boxty, butter making, rope making just some of the skills from the past. Tug of war, clay pigeon shoot, cow bingo, bonny baby competition, dog/hen show plus a host of many more events on the day for all the family. And come the end of a perfect day you can tog yourself out and head for Murtagh’s Bar, The Cross, Aughacliffe where you can exert to the music of Cajun Country Band at the Queen of the Plough Dance. Congratulations to Niall Casey, son of John and Claire, Ballincurry, Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Michelle Hasson, daughter of John and Dympna, Dungiven, Co Derry, joined by families and friends in St Patrick’s Church last week. Old Killoe cemetery
The Holy Sacrifice of the mass will be celebrated in the Old Killoe cemetery (beside church of Ireland) in remembrance of all the deceased and to mark the upgrading of the cemetery in existence from the early 1700s on Tuesday 20 August 2013 at 8pm. The parish wish to thank the voluntary committee who have completed extensive continuous work on the cemetery.

August, 2013 in Ennybegs Community Centre from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Last Saturday night, we had a send off in Begley’s Pub for our committee member, Helen Bowe-Reichert and Robson Reichert who with their family are leaving our community and heading to Germany – hope all goes well for you. We extend our deepest sympathy to our Treasurer, Catherine Bracken and family, on the recent death of her mother.
