There was much regret locally on the occasion of the untimely death of Bennie McGahern, Kilcogy Village and late of Annagh road. Deceased who was aged only 42 had been terminally ill for some time but bore his illness with great fortitude and courage. Bennie was an industrious worker who could turn his hand to any job and was much in demand locally where he liked to see a job well done. He was also a keen fisherman and was a member of the local River Erne Fishing Club. He was a good husband to Pauline and father to his four young children by whom he will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his father, Micksie and is survived by his mother, Josie, wife Pauline, (nee Monaghan), daughters Rachael, Rebecca and Ciara and son Darragh, sisters Marie, Martina, Josepine and Louise, brothers John, Noel, Stephen, Peter and Michael, uncles Peter and John Joe and aunt Anne Mae to whom we extend our sincere sympathy, also to the members of his extended family circle. The funeral Mass on Wednesday last in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran, was concelebrated, the chief celebrant was Canon Owen Devaney P.P. and burial took place to local cemetery. May he rest in peace.
The month’s Mind Mass was celebrated on Sunday morning in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran for the late Martin Dolan, late of Boston, Kilcogy who passed away in London recently. At long last the new stretch of the N55 has opened from Mullahoran to Dundevan by-passing the Church, the GAA Complex and Kilcogy. It’s straight ahead now to Granard and the West for the high volume of passing traffic. However, the Church road is badly in need of repair and hopefully this will be attended to in the near future.
