Hit & Miss Golf Society

Congratulations to Johnny Reilly on winning our last outing in Ballinamore Golf Club with a great score of 41pts. Our next outing is in Cavan Golf Club on Saturday 17th August at 10am. Please be there at 9.30am, our Captain is very particular about time. Is there any truth in the rumour that the Captain has sacked his golf advisors after his display in the Captains Prize in Longford?

Four Schools Reunion

The Four Schools Reunion Gathering was a huge success. The organising committee would like to sincerely thank all those involved in making it so. We thank Paul Williams for launching the book and being so generous with his time. We thank all the priests who came to concelebrate the Mass on Friday, Ailish McLoughlin of Dial A Chef for the delicious food, all the stewards and all those who helped throughout the night. Thanks to Kay and Nashville Sound and Peter Masterson for the disco. Thanks to the bar staff who did a wonderful job on both nights. We thank all those who organised the Fun Run, Vintage Displays, football blitzes etc, those who fed them all, those who worked on the barbeque and those who helped in any way especially those who worked quietly behind the scenes. Together they made the weekend thoroughly enjoyable and massive success.

Dromard 5km Fun Run

Included in the weekend’s activities as part of the very successful and enjoyable “Dromard Four Schools Reunion” Gathering was a 5km fun run/walk on Saturday afternoon.  For providing spot prizes for this event the organisers of the fun run thank sincerely – SERENITY BEAUTY SALON & ECLIPSE HAIR SALON, Ballinamuck & FRESH TODAY, Arva. Thanks again to Pat The Baker for assisting with refreshments.  While the event was labelled as a fun run/walk competition among the running folk was keen with Padraig Corcoran, Ballinagh finishing 1st followed by Michael Coyle with Tom Donnelly from Granard in  3rd place.  Barry Taffee was the first local home on this occasion. For the ladies Claire Miney, Arva was first to cross the line followed by local ladies Elizabeth O’Reilly in 2nd place and Helen Conefrey 3rd. A notable feature of the event was the number of children participating with Daniel Madigan from Arva leading them home followed closely by Jason Grimes. Well done to everyone who took part.

A fundraising night will be held in Hughies Bar on 24th August for Our Ladies Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Hughie is trekking in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco in October. Music on the night by Seamus Farrell. Refreshments will be served. All sponsorship for this worthy cause will be greatly appreciated.
