For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Sunday 18th August Dedication Service in Arva at 3 o’clock when Bishop Ferran Glenfield will dedicate the new Roof, Painting, Central Heating system and repairs. Everyone is welcome and there will be refreshments afterwards in the Memorial Hall. There will be no other Service on Sunday. This is a very significant day for the Church of Ireland community in Arva so anyone that is available they should go along and join the celebration.
The annual Visitation and Blessing of Graves will take place in Coronea Cemetery at 12.15 pm on this Sunday 18th August. All Plot Owners are requested to have the final resting place of their loved one’s looking neat and tidy. Please take litter home and don’t leave rubbish lying around.

An Antiques and Vintage Road Show will be held in aid of the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cavan, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August from 12 to 6pm. Events include expert antique valuations, historical and photographic exhibitions, a Victorian Fashion Show and a Vintage Fair. On Sunday 25th an auction will take place from 7pm to 9pm and we are asking people to donate small items for auction. A volunteer based Charity Shop has opened on Main Street, Arva beside the Ulster Bank supporting St Vincent de Paul, Arva and SOSOAD (Save Our Sons And Daughters), Cavan. The shop will be open from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and until 8.00 pm on Saturday and they would appreciate donations of items in good condition that they can sell.
There will be a Fundraising Night in Hughie’s on Saturday 24th August for Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin. This year Hughie will be Trekking in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco next October and will welcome all sponsorship for this very worthy cause. Music on the night will be provided by Seamus Farrell , refreshments will be served and it promises to be a great night.

The Annual Fundraiser for Self Help Africa will take place on Sunday 25th August in Cornafean. Always a very enjoyable and entertaining day why not go along and help a worthy cause.
Dromard 5km Fun Run
Included in the weekend’s activities as part of the very successful and enjoyable “Dromard Four Schools Reunion” Gathering was a 5km fun run/walk on Saturday afternoon. For providing spot prizes for this event the organisers of the fun run thank sincerely – Serenity Beauty Salon and Eclipse Hair Salon, Ballinamuck & Fresh Today, Arva. Thanks again to Pat The Baker for assisting with refreshments. While the event was labelled as a fun run/walk competition among the running folk was keen with Padraig Corcoran, Ballinagh finishing 1st followed by Michael Coyle with Tom Donnelly from Granard in 3rd place. Barry Taffee was the first local home on this occasion. For the ladies Claire Miney, Arva was first to cross the line followed by local ladies Elizabeth O’Reilly in 2nd place and Helen Conefrey in 3rd place. A notable feature of the event was the number of children participating with Daniel Madigan from Arva leading them home followed closely by Jason Grimes. Well done to everyone who took part!”
5km Bruce Ramble Walk/Jog/Run takes place on Friday 23rd August. Registration is at McSeains Pub, Cornafean from 6.30pm to 7.00pm. Registration fee is €10 per person or €20 per family. All proceeds to Enable Ireland, Cavan. Come along and enjoy the ramble!
