SYMPATHY: We would like to extend our sympathy to the Rogers family Bridgefort, on the death of George Rogers last weekend. To Mrs Rogers and children John, Linda and Helen and extended family members the community sends its sincere sympathy. May he rest in peace.

PLAYGROUND & COMMUNITY PARK CLOSED: The RCD have contractors in who started work on the community Park and they are asking that parents inform their children to keep out of the park and Play ground until all work is completed. This is a Health & Safety issue and there will be large machines working so for the safety of all please make sure your children are aware of the dangers and respect that they have to stay out of the community field and Playground until all is finished. There is no insurance in place for the play ground or park that allows the public in to use for recreational use at present.

Lotto: Next draw is Monday 10th June. Last draw held on Monday 27th May so results will be in next week’s paper. Tickets can be brought in Rathowen Post Office, Connaughton’s Pub, along with several people selling. If you would like to sell a book please contact Peter or Liz on 6676189. It’s worth buying a ticket and remember if you’re not in you can’t win!!!!!

BBQ IN AID OF M.S. IRELAND & BUNBROSNA GAA: Great night was had by all and for a great cause, well done to Andrew Whitney and all who helped him on the night.

VAnDALISM & THEFT: I have to report about St Thomas church being broken into twice and vandalised with paint, also about briquettes being stolen from a pensioner in the village. Sad to see this going on in our community but a lot has gone on it the last two weeks. We are asking that people please keep a look out for anyone at the church and for strangers in the village. Nothing is safe, so please put your belongings in a locked shed. Don’t leave anything out; these thieves are like rats if they get fed they will keep coming back. Residents please keep an extra eye out for the pensioners in the village and vulnerable.

NOTES: Due to a change with Newspaper deadlines, our time has been moved back for having notes into the paper. The last time now is Saturday by 7pm, anything later than that will not be in the notes and will be put into the following week’s (if suitable). Please continue to e-mail them into Lorraine on lorraine.tormey@gmail.com
