ATHLETIC CLUB: The Connacht Championships take place in Athlone the next two weekends. Training will continue at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks.

Illustrated Talk on John McGahern: On Tuesday 11th June at 8pm in Ballinamore library, local Ballinamore historian Dr. Frank Brennan will give an illustrated talk on John McGahern, his life, his writings and his connection with Ballinamore, Aughawillan, Corraleehan and Fenagh. Frank has a profound interest in Mc Gahern and his writings and how the local landscape shaped his life and his books. Admission to this lecture is free and all are welcome. On the following day, Wed 12th, Frank has organised a bus tour of Ballinamore, Aughawillian, Corraleehan and Fenagh with a visit to Glenview Museum to view the many items there identified with and presented by John McGahern. In the afternoon the tour will visit Carrick-on-Shannon, Cootehall and Boyle, all associated with John and his writings. After School: We are coming to the end of another year and we have a limited number of places available for September 2013. We will be holding an open week between the10th June and the 14th June 2013 for booking new children into the service. Places are limited and we will be operating a waiting list. Our Service: We collect junior and senior infants from Ballinamore School. Homework supervision is included in each session. We have a wide range of art/craft activities and outdoor games when possible. We offer a sliding scale of fees as part of subvention agreed by government offices. Parent’s participating in an eligible FAS/VEC course are entitled to free childcare for the duration of your course. We also offer a breakfast club from 8 am and we drop your child to school. Craic le chéile cois na h’Abhann: - A date for your Diary, Craic cois na h’Abhann will take place over the weekend of the 19th to the 21st of July in the grounds of Aughawillan G.A.A. with a host of events inspiring fun, culture, heritage and sport. Celebrating the communities of Corraleehan and Aughawillan, we invite our neighbours, friends and expatriates to join us, with a programme of events that will entertain both young and old. PPS Closing Celebrations……Reminder!: Just over a week to go to the Official Closing Celebrations of Ballinamore Post Primary Schools. On Sunday June 2nd, the schools are hosting an event to mark 62 years of continuous second level education provided by The Sisters of Mercy, The Kilmore Diocese and Leitrim VEC. At the end of this school year, the existing arrangement of common enrolment between Fatima and Felim’s Secondary School and the Vocational School will come to an end and the schools will amalgamate and become Ballinamore Community School. To mark this event, we hope to have a unique school reunion. All past students, parents, teacher and local community are invited to join us in this celebration. We would still welcome old photographs and memorabilia especially from pre 2000 classes which you might have and we can add to our exhibition. Everything submitted will be returned.
