Loch Gowna

FIRST COMMUNION: Sunday 19th May 2013 was a special day for the children of Loch Gowna and Cortober schools when they received their First Communion in the Church of Holy Family Gowna from Fr PJ Fitzpatrick who celebrated the mass. Refreshments were provided to the children and their families in the Community Centre afterwards. We congratulate the children on this special occasion. The recipients of Gowna were Sean Hartin, Fionn Hartin, Eoghan Hartin,Daire Madden, Mark Brady, Eoin Farrell, Darragh McCannon, Michael Smyth, Spencer Dolan, Jasmine Hartin, Yanna Hartin, Clodagh Boylan and Hanna Mikalajezyk. The recipients for Cortober school were Cillian Brady, Keelin O’Connell and Cliona Griffith.

ACTIVE AGE: Loch Gowna Active Age Day trip on Tuesday 11 June. Bus will leave village at 12 noon sharp. If you are travelling please leave your name at the Post Office before Saturday June 8 or contact Mary or Rose on 043 6683101.

HALL COMMITTEE MEETING: St Bridget’s Community Centre Hall Committee are holding a meeting on Monday June 10 at 9pm in St Bridget’s Community Centre, Loch Gowna. New members, also, will be very welcome to along next Monday evening.

SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to Myles Reilly Middletown Loughduff and Mrs Margaret Matthews Toome, Dring on the recent death of their sister Mrs Nellie Brosnan,Birmingham England . Also sympathy to Nellie’s husband Maurice, son Myles brothers Fr Bernard, sister Teresa, nieces nephews relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

ARVA LIBRARY: Arva branch library Market House Arva have received a great selection of new titles in their recent branch exchange. Open hours Thursday 2-5pm & 6 – 8.30pm, Friday 2-5pm Saturday 10am- 1pm & 2-5pm. Please call in. Library service is free.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Congratulations to Moya Shields Sallaghan who came third in the All Ireland recitation section. Also to the set dancers and contemporary dance group who took part in the recent community games held in Athlone. Well done to everyone involved.

TEA DANCE: Cavan Active Retirement Association invite Loch Gowna Active Age to a tea dance in Tullacmongan Resource Centre Cavan on Sunday June 9th commencing at 3pm until 6pm. If you are interested please go. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
