Corpus Christi: Sunday last was the feast of Corpus Christi – The Body of Christ. 
To mark the Year of Faith a Solemn Eucharistic Adoration holy hour was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran from 4-5 pm synchronized with Pope Francis in Rome and with dioceses throughout the world.

Bank HolidaY: The June bank holiday brought fine dry weather which is welcomed by all after the unseasonal conditions. Some farmers are taking their first cut of silage and many are heading to the bog as turf cutting has already started. May we enjoy a good long summer.

Kevin Brady: The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday May 29th at College View, Nursing Home, Cavan of Kevin Brady, late of Dundevan and New York. Deceased who was in his 92nd year was brother of the late Oliver, former proprietor of Brady’s Pub, Dundevan who along with his wife Kathleen and son Brendan were killed in a horrific road accident on their way home from Mullingar on the Edgeworthstown road almost 20 years ago. Kevin was also predeceased by his sister Kathleen and brothers Jack and Rory and is survived by his sisters Evelyn Cassidy and Phyllis McSeain, nieces, relatives and friends. The removal of remains took place from Briody’s funeral home, Kilnaleck to our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran on Thursday and funeral was on Friday following requiem Mass to local cemetery. We extend our sincere sympathy to his sisters, nieces, especially Philomena Kiely, Dundevan and members of his extended family circle. May he rest in peace.

Fr Michael Killian P.E: The death occurred on Friday May 17th 2013 (peacefully) in the tender care of the doctors nurses and staff at St. Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon of Fr. Michael Killian. Fr. Killian, late of Fermoyle, Lanesboro, Co. Longford was P.P. in this parish for a short time and was also former P.P. of Kiltubrid, Co. Leitrim. He is deeply regretted by his loving sister Carmel Stanley (Canada), sister-in-law Norah, nieces, nephews, relatives and many great friends in Gowel and Drumcong, in particular Veronica, Bishop Colm O’Reilly and his fellow priests in the diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois. Funeral took place on Monday May 27th in St. Bridig’s Church, Drumcong and burial followed in the church grounds. May he rest in peace.

Blessing of Graves: This year cemetery Sunday will take place in the parish on the weekend of July 6/7th. Graves will be blessed in Loughduff following the 7.00 pm Mass on Saturday evening 6th and in Mullahoran following the 11 am Mass on Sunday morning. In the meantime all plot holders are asked to make a special effort to prepare the cemeteries and take away all rubbish please.

First Friday: Feast of the Sacred Heart: Morning Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff at 9.30am and evening Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran at 7 pm. followed by Exposition of Bl. Sacrament. The sick & elderly will be visited on Thursday in the Mullahoran area and on Friday in the Loughduff area. If any are away or unavailable please contact 043.6683141.

Abbeylara Field Day: Don’t miss the fun on Sunday 9th June. Something for all the family, free car parking, tractors, motor bikes, vintage parade, midget car racing, competitions of all sorts, come early, proceeds in aid of parish funds.

Vigil for Life: on Saturday 8th June in Merrion Sq., Dublin from 3 – 4 pm. The vigil will send a clear, positive message about safeguarding the lives of mothers and babies in pregnancy.
