COMMUNITY GAMES: On Sunday next 9th June over 30 children from the parish will take to the track in Ballymahon at 11am to compete in the County Longford Community Games Finals. We wish you all the best of luck on the day and to enjoy. A reminder to all not to forget Friday 7th June in The Stags Head Ballinalee where Rose Mulvey will receive the Hall of Fame award at the Longford Community Games 40the Anniversary Gala Night. All are welcome to come along and support Rose on the night.
First Holy Communion: Congratulations to the following boys and girls from St Sinneachs NC Colehill who made their First Holy Communion recently in Carrickedmond church. Rachel Kelly, Caitlín Murray,Siobhan Egan, Madison Newman, Chloe Percival, Katie Horgan, Kerry McNamara, Chlo O’Neill, Liam Donohoe, Jamie Brady, Daniel Egan, Charlie Byrne, Ross Doherty, Cian Hughes, Matthew Hilliard, Shaun McGrath, Sean Brady and Liam Glennon. Novena: The novena in honour of the Secret Heart of Jesus continues in Carrickedmond church until Friday next the 7th June. This novena is been offered for peace in the world, all doing examinations, for the gift of clement weather, for the sick and for vocations. Mass and the novena prayer is at 8pm each evening.
Sincere Sympathy: Is extended to the family of Charlie Cahill Cloughan Abbeyshrule, who passed away at St Josephs Longford recently. May he rest in peace.
Community Games: Best wishes are extended to all the boys and girls from the parish who compete in the county Longford track and field community games finals which take place in Ballymahon on Sunday next. Hopefully a great day will be had by all.
PTAA: The Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule pioneer association Trip to the Titanic will take place on the 30th June. The bus to Belfast will leave from Carrickedmond church car park at 7:15am. Hopefully all travelling will have a great day.
Welcome Home: From the diocesan trip to Lourdes which took place from the 27th May to the 1st June to Justin Mc Guire and Marie Farrell who were both helpers on the trip. Hopefully both enjoyed the experience.
Badminton: Continues in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond for adults on Wednesday nights from 9.30pm. Please note that the AGM of the club be held in hall on Tuesday night the 18th June at 9pm. All club players and anyone interested in badminton is invited to attend.
Found: A signet ring has been found in Abbeyshrule church and can be returned to its owner by contacting Fr Peter Tiernan.
First Friday: Friday next the 7th June is the first Friday of the month. The usual housebound call will be made by Fr Peter on Friday next and mass in Carrickedmond church at 8pm.
Table Quiz: The Friends of St Luke’s second annual Table Quiz will take place in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule on Thursday night the 6th June at 9pm. There will be lots of cash and spot prizes on the night. All proceeds from this event will be donated to St Luke’s cancer care. Enquiries to John McNamara 087 8372317 or Edward Keenan 087 254 7291. Last year’s quiz was a fantastic night and thanks to everyone for their support, continued help this year would be greatly appreciated.
