Easter Ceremonies at St. Matthews Church: Holy Thursday- 8p.m. evening Mass. During this Mass, special ministers of the Eucharist will renew their commitment to this ministry. At the end of the Mass the Blessed Sacrament will be brought in procession to the Altar of Repose. You are invited to spend some time in quiet reflection there until 10p.m. when the Night Prayer of the Church will be recited. Please bring your Trocaire Box to this Mass. Proceeds from the Offertory collection at the Mass will also go to Trocaire. Good Friday: 3p.m. Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. 8p.m. Prayer around the Cross (Taize) Holy Thursday: 9p.m. The Easter Vigil, the principal liturgical celebration of the Church’s Year. The traditional Polish blessing of Easter food will take place in the Church on Saturday, 30th March at 12.00p.m. Easter Sunday: Masses will be celebrated at 9a.m. and 11.30a.m. If any of the readers listed on the Parish Newsletter are unable to be present during the Easter Ceremonies, please let Fr. Padraig know so that a substitute may be arranged. Weekday Mass Schedule for Easter Week-Easter Monday-Polish Mass at 1.00p.m. Easter Tuesday- no Mass. Thereafter Mass is back to the normal time of 10.00a.m.

Exciting win for Basketball team: Many congratulations to the Mercy Secondary School’s U-16 girls Basketball team who an All-Ireland title when they beat Colaiste Oiriall, from Co Monaghan at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Wednesday afternoon last. Well done to the girls and their coach, Mr Dempsey and to the many supporters who travelled to the game, I hear they had an energetic group of cheerleaders on the day! Well done lads!

Forgney National School: Enrolment of new children for 2013/2014 shall take place from Monday 15th to Friday 19th April 2013. Parents/Guardians of children starting in September, please call to the school during that week.

Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage: The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place this year from 27th May to 1st June. The fully-inclusive price is €699.00. Eucharistic Adoration: There will be no Eucharistic Adoration in St. Matthews Church on Easter Tuesday, April 2nd.

Minor football club: Ballymahon/Forgney Minor football club are running a Sweep Draw on the Aintree Grand National on Saturday April 5th. Tickets are now available at €2 each or a book of 3 for €5.

Easter Ceremonies at Forgney Church: The following are the times for the Easter Ceremonies at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Forgney: Holy Thursday - 6.30p.m. Good Friday – 6.30p.m. Holy Saturday in Drumraney Church at 8p.m.

Titanic Exhibitiion: The Carrickedmond branch of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association is considering the possibility of organising a tour on some Sunday in July to visit the Titanic Exhibition in Belfast. Annual Cake Sale: The annual Cake Sale in aid of Shrule Cemetery maintenance will take place in the Dean Egan Centre (Bridgeways) immediately after the Easter Ceremonies in St. Matthews Church on Good Friday. Light refreshments will be served and your support for the local Cemetery will be much appreciated.

U-21 football: Congratulations to the U.21 County gaelic football team who have reached the Leinster U-21 Final which will take place in Portlaoise on Wednesday next, April 3rd against Kildare. Well done to the mentors, local man Trevor Smullen their trainer, Manager Eugene McCormack and the rest of the management, also to team members Rory Connor, Kenagh, Barry O’Farrell and Gary Higgins, Carrickedmond. Recent wedding: Congratulations to Eileen Campbell, Muckerstaff, Granard, a very popular nurse at our local Doctor’s clinic whose daughter Louise got married recently to Kieran Walsh, Rathcronan at St. Mary’s Church in Granard. We wish the happy young couple every happiness for the future.

Meeting: Longford Mother to Mother breastfeeding support group will meet on Wednesday 3rd April in Ballinalee Health centre from 1030am to 1230pm.
