CONFESSIONS: Confessions, in preparation for the Easter Triduum, on Tuesday March 26th, at 8pm in Newtowncashel, and on Wednesday March 27th at 7.30pm in Lanesboro. 
Visiting confessors will attend in both instances. Those who wish to go to Confession for Easter are encouraged to avail of these opportunities. Confessions will also be heard if necessary on Holy Thursday at 9.15pm and on Good Friday at 8.30pm.

HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES: HOLY THURSDAY – Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 8pm, followed by procession to the Altar of Repose. Adoration in the South Transept (women’s cross-house) until midnight. All who are free are invited to spend some time in adoration. See roster of groups and organisations below. The children for First Holy Communion and their parents will be among those participating in the Liturgy on Holy Thursday as part of their ongoing involvement in the “Do This In Memory” programme. GOOD FRIDAY – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, 3pm. Stations of the Cross, 8.00pm. Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence. HOLY SATURDAY – 9pm, Lighting of the Paschal Fire followed by the Easter Vigil. Non-drip candles will be available. EASTER SUNDAY – Celebration of The Resurrection, 10.30am – Children’s Mass. HOLY THURSDAY ADORATION AT THE ALTAR OF REPOSE - 9.30 – 10.00pm Pioneers, Choir, Intellectual Disability Association, Sun-Aqua Club. 10.00 – 10.30pm Drama Society, Church Collectors - 10.30 – 11.00pm, Readers, IFA and ICA 11.00 – 11.30pm Gun Club and GAA 11.30 – 12.00 midnight Pastoral Council and Eucharistic Ministers. Please ensure that members of your organisation are present at the times specified. Persons who are members of the Wednesday roster are also invited to spend some time in adoration on Holy Thursday night.

“THE LAST WEEK”: Well done to all involved in presenting “THE LAST WEEK” in Newtowncashel, Scramogue and Tang churches last weekend!! A huge amount of work went into the production, in rehearsals, in the scene constructions and decorating the churches for the nightly performances, in printing and refreshments!! Huge thanks also to all who came along on the three nights to support the choirs despite the bitterly cold evenings!

CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Tara Sweeney and her team-mates on the Mercy Secondary School Under-16 Basketball team who won the All-Ireland Final last Wednesday!

SENIOR CHOIR REHEARSAL: The Senior Choir will hold a practise in the church on Wednesday March 27th at 8pm. The Senior Choir will provide the liturgical music at the Good Friday Ceremonies at 3pm and at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, 9pm. All members are asked to attend please. Anyone interested in joining the choir following the staging of “The Last Week” at the weekend will be very welcome to join in!! New members are welcome at any time!

JUNIOR CHOIR REHEARSALS: The Junior Choir will hold a rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon, 5.00 – 6.30pm, and on Good Friday following the 3.00pm Ceremonies, lasting about an hour The Junior Choir will provide the liturgical music on Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday. All members are asked to be present please, and new members are always welcome!

ADORATION: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday March 27th will begin at 3pm and conclude at the earlier time of 8.00pm, to facilitate the Senior Choir rehearsal.

TRÓCAIRE: The Trócaire collection will be taken up during the Ceremonies on Good Friday. Family fast boxes may also be returned on Holy Thursday.

TIDY TOWNS: The monthly Tidy Towns meeting will be held in “The Hill” on Wednesday the 3rd of April at 8:00 pm. All members are asked to attend please.

GAA RACE DAY: Longford GAA are hosting their 11th annual Race Day at Punchestown on “Gold Cup Day” Wednesday 24th April. Cashel GAA Club will host a table there and are looking for people to join them for the day. The ticket price of €100 covers the following, admission to the races, race card, four course meal, celebrity tipsters, bar facilities, bookies and hot afternoon refreshments all of which represents great value. This is a great social occasion and meeting place with Longford people and friends from all over the Country. Car-pooling can be arranged. FLOWERS: There are thirty-five flower beds in the village, big and small, all cared for by the Tidy Towns. We would like to hear from anyone who has the interest to adopt a flower bed for the coming season. The Tidy Towns will supply all the flowers. CASHEL GAA: The Club invites people to take out membership and to support the Club Lotto. Club members will visit the houses of the parish in coming weeks to provide details enabling people to do this.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE: The Annual Pilgrimage takes place from May 27th to June 1st, five nights, fully inclusive price €699.00. Flights from Knock. PIONEER OUTING: Carrickedmond PTAA are considering a tour on a Sunday in July to visit the Titanic exhibition in Belfast. Those who are interested are asked to contact any of the following telephone numbers – (087) 646 6075, (087) 697 4775, (044) 935 7442, (044) 935 7582, not later than April 5th. The tour is open to non-members of the PTAA. Cashel Pioneers will join forces with Carrickedmond for this outing.

HARVEST FESTIVAL: Longford Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday September 1st. The event features working displays of vintage machinery, horse and tractor, with associated demonstrations and activities. This promises to be a very interesting and entertaining afternoon for family and enthusiasts. Proceeds on the day to St Christopher’s. The next meeting will be held in Fallon’s, Newtowncashel, on Tuesday week, March 26th, at 9pm. A fundraising Table Quiz is scheduled for Friday April 26th.
