Frolics Galore: Colmcille Frolics Galore is back on Friday 29th March at 8.30pm sharp in the Community Centre, Aughnacliffe. Some old faces and plenty of new faces take to the stage to present 2 hours of top entertainment with something for young and old alike. Guaranteed to have you in stitches! Proceeds of the event are going to Colmcille National School, The Community Centre and Leebeen Park Development. All support is greatly appreciated.
Take Me Out: The annual Take Me Out event will take place on Easter Sunday 31st March in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. This year the proceeds of the event will be donated to Longford Palliative Home Care. Tickets cost €10 and will be sold door to door or you can pay at the door. There will be a raffle and disco on the night. Please come along and support this very worthy cause. A great night’s entertainment is promised.
A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: Colmcille Celtic Soccer Club will hold their Annual Table Quiz in Murtagh’s Lounge on Friday 5th April at 9.30pm sharp. As usual there will be cash and spot prizes, Raffle and competitions. A great night’s entertainment is assured and emphasis will not be on soccer questions, although there might be a few on that topic. The organising committee invite young and old to come along and support them.
A WORD OT THANKS: The “concerned parishioner” who contacted me a few weeks ago in connection with the error on the newly-erected road signs leading into the village of Aughnacliffe has written to me again to express his thanks and delight at the speed of the rectification of the mistake. Bunlahy Area Action Group: Bunlahy Area Action Group are hosting the renowned play “For Club and County, the making of a sporting hero” Written and directed by Seamus O Rourke. G.A.A. Lotto: There was no winner of the March 18th lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 6, 24, 26 and 29. €20 winners were Ronnie Floody, Pauric Brady, Niall Mulleady and Connor Reynolds. The jackpot now stands at €6,750. Envelopes are available in all the usual outlets.
North Longford Men’s Group: This group meets each Friday from 12 – 3pm in the community centre Aughnacliffe, but due to the Easter break there will be no meeting on Friday 29th March (Good Friday) and Friday 5th April. Our next meeting will take place on Friday April 12th. Men’s health awareness – The Men’s group in partnership with EDI Centre Longford & Marie Keating foundation are holding an information awareness programme on men’s & ladies health on Wednesday April 10th at 11.30 am, as we all work together to beat cancer through awareness, education and support services. This programme is free and will take place in EDI Centre Longford. Everyone is welcome. Many thanks to Seamus Murtagh & Sr. Brigid for the delivery of their respective programmes. Welcome to Brenda & Mary who have joined the Rathmhuire resource centre staff. Congratulations to the EDI Centre and all involved with the traditional & conservational skills programme on the official opening of another major programme on Wednesday last, this success is due to hard work and determination. Minor GAA: Easter Hamper Raffle lines are still on sale from underage players and local shops. Lines are €2 each and all support appreciated. Thanks to the generosity of some of our local sponsors there will now be 3 hampers to raffle. Draw takes place on Saturday night in Murtagh’s.
