MRS NORA MULLIGAN: There was widespread sadness throughout the town and district as news spread of the death following a brief illness of Mrs Nora Mulligan. Formerly of Drumrooske Killeshandra, Nora had resided in Ballinagh for the past six years during which time she had endeared herself to our local community through her friendship, courtesy and kindness.

Blessed with a deep religious faith Nora was throughout her long life a devout Catholic and a life long member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, a kind and helpful neighbour and friend to any person in need. Her passing is widely mourned. She is survived by her sons John in Killeshnadra and Peter in the USA, daughters Mrs Noreen Gaynor Costruce Ballinagh, Mrs Catherine Hyland Cavan Road Ballinagh and Margaret in the United States, sons in law , daughter in law, brother Brian (USA), sister Mrs Mollie McKeon Knockbride Bailieborough, grandchildren and great grandchild and by a large family circle to whom I extend the sympathy of our community. There was a very large attendance at the removal of the remains with guards of honour provided by Ballinagh gaelic football club and by the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association while the funeral which again was of extremely large dimensions and bore ample testimony of the esteem with which the deceased and her family are held throughout the region took place following con-celebrated mass in St Brigids Church Killeshandra to the family burial ground. Very Rev Dan Sheridan PP, Rev Colm Hurly, Rev Peter Casey PP Kilmore and Rev John Phair PP Templeport officiated.

OMITTED: In our obituary to the late Mrs Rose O’Brien which appeared in last week’s issue the name of her daughter Anne (RIP) was inadvertently omitted from the list of family members. I regret the omission.
