Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu International Karate: After our Christmas break our training has commenced again at the usual times. Monday 7-8pm and Friday 7-8pm at GAA complex. We would like to welcome all of our students back and also say a big welcome to Luke our newest student. 2013 promises to be a very busy year for our club and we look forward to a great year’s training. Fundraising Raffle: A fundraising raffle is underway by Leigh Casey for which the draw will be held in Casey’s Pub on Saturday 2nd February. The proceeds of this raffle will enable Leigh to go to Tanzania on a volunteer teaching and care programme for disadvantaged children. Tickets are €2 each, 3 for €5, or a book of 6 for €10, and are available in all local venues. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Church Choir seek new members: Our parish choir are currently inviting new members to join. The choir sing at the 11am Mass every Sunday with rehearsals scheduled on Thursday evenings from 8.00 - 9.30pm in the church. Our first rehearsal of the New Year commences this Thursday 10th of January. As this marks the beginning of a new season, our choir director and members highly recommend this as an excellent time to get involved. Irish Dancing: Irish dancing classes will recommence in Newtownforbes GAA Complex on Friday 11 January at 2:10pm Children can be collected from school and put on school buses if necessary by prior arrangement with Maureen. Irish Dancing Classes will also recommence in Newtownforbes Parish Hall on Friday 11th January at 6pm for children of all ages and at 7:15 pm for teenagers, college students and adults. No wigs, fake tans, make up for dancers. Classes €4.50 per person Family rate 10 euros with monthly reductions for those who choose to pay by the month. Newcomers welcome. Scór na nÓg: Our Scór na nÓg Question Time team of Ciaran Madden, Veronica Breslin and Dearbhaile Madden will participate in the Leinster Final which will be hosted by the Erin’s Isle Club in Finglas on Saturday 12th January. All support from the club would be greatly appreciated.
