Chrism Mass

Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 2 April in St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford at 11.00am. Our new parish banner will be on display at the Chrism Mass along with the parish banners of the other parishes of the Diocese. The Parish Banners will be carried in procession before the Chrism Mass.

Resurrection Garden

There is now a Resurrection Garden in St. Mary’s Church, Carra. Children please bring flowers or a small toy to help decorate the Garden at Easter.

Gun Club

A meeting of Abbeylara Gun Club will be held in the shooting grounds Derragh on this Tuesday night 7 April at 9.00pm sharp. This meeting is to arrange our Annual Open shoot which will be held on Sunday 3 May. All members please attend, donations toward sponsorship kindly appreciated.

Horticulture Course

A Horticulture Course takes place in Lus na Greine, family Resource Centre, Granard every Thursday morning form 10.00am to 12.00 noon. Spring planting, GIY and lots more. Tunnel and hands on gardening with Marie Kiernan from Treel Garden Centre.

‘The Field’

Lus Na Greine is currently planning an outing to the Gaiety Theatre to see John B Keane’s play ‘The Field’ starring Michael Harding on May 11. Bookings are been taken now by paying a deposit at the centre. For further information please contact the centre.

Granard Easter Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday April 4 and 5. A fun filled, action packed weekend is in store. With such a variety of free, live entertainment there is something for everyone at the Easter Festival in Granard!

Parent and Toddler Grant 2015

Applications should be made by Parent & Toddler Groups that are organised by parents in the community. Grants will normally range from €100 to €1000. Existing Parent and Toddler Groups can apply for a maximum of €800. New start up groups may apply for maximum grant of up to €1000. Funding will be available for: Children’s Activities, Toys, Equipment and Books; Training for Parents, e.g. Paediatric first aid, Committee skills, Parenting courses; Limited funding for Insurance, Rent or Refurbishments, up to a maximum of 30% of the total funding secured. Tractor Run

Martin Cadden’s Monster Tractor Run will take place on Saturday, 18 April from Mullahoran GFC grounds starting at 1.00pm. As Friday is Good Friday the market will be held on Saturday from 9.00am to 12 Midday at Upper Main Street. We will celebrate Easter with a free raffle for all customers and Easter greetings are extended to all our patrons.

Motor Neurone Disease Fundraiser

Lough Rynn Castle is hosting a Charity Dinner Dance on Saturday 4 April in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. Tickets are priced at €45 per person; this includes arrival drinks at reception, a five course meal and half bottle of wine per person with entertainment by “Gobsmacked” with Special guests on the night.
