Volunteering day: The Native Woodland Trust is holding a hands-on volunteering day  at their  Drumshambo South Woodland Reserve on Saturday 19th January and  are looking for volunteers for their 1st outing of 2013 on the 19th January. The reserve is planted with native Oak, Birch and Hazel and the forest is quite impressive already even though only 10 years old. Through 2013 finishing touches such as managing the grassland meadow, adding pathways and doing some important vegetation control work will be the order. All of the work will be supervised and amply instructed -  Join us for a great opportunity  to learn about woodland trees and to make a difference to conservation and for a good healthy holistic day out- Meet – Drumlish Village in front of Church, opposite Costcutters at 10.50 am– Event Time 11: 00 – 15:00 hrs.

Dinner dance: Fr Manning Gaels Social Dinner & Dance will take place in The Pikeman Inn, Ballinamuck on Saturday January 26th. Tickets priced at €10 are available from any executive member.

Community Celebrations: Rehearsals for the variety show will commence on Friday the 18th January at 8pm in the centre anyone willing to take part or help please attend. We are holding a American tea party in the old village inn on sat 16th February anyone wishing to take a table please contact Caroline on 0851492201. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 23rd January at 9:30 all welcome to attend. We are still looking for old photos or stories anyone willing to share please drop them into Bridget in the post office.

Bingo: Ballinamuck Bingo every Tuesday night in the 98 hall at 8.30 pm ,Prize fund of €1,300, all welcome to come along and play!!

St Helen’s AGM: The AGM of St. Helens Ladies Football Club is being held in the Clubhouse Monaduff on Sunday next 20th January at 5,00pm. The Club would appreciate if everyone with an interest in the club could attend the meeting to ensure the future of St. Helen’s.

’98 Bar has new owners: Congratulations to Mark and Yvonne Breslin the New tenants of the ’98 Bar Ballinamuck. They are already in business with the Gala Supermarket Ballinamuck and have now branched out to take over the running of the ’98 Bar. We join their families and friends in wishing them every success in their new venture and hope business is good for them there.

Courses: Computer course and knitting club will resume at the library in the next few weeks, and we are also hoping to start a book club, if anyone is interested call in to Helen or phone 0433324760 or 0868674162 for details. We would like to wish you a happy new year from all at the library

Baptisms: The following were baptised recently and welcomed into the faith community of the parish Ella Kate Callaghan daughter of Alan and Carmel Cairn Hill View. Lucy Kathleen Gallagher daughter of Seamus and Catríona 4 Loughan Hill . Congratulations to both families on these great occasions.

Engagements: Congratulations to Emma McNally, Greagh and Kieran Duffy, Fearglass who announced their engagement recently. Also to Grace Quinn daughter of Johnny and Brigid, Drumlish Hill and Seamus McEvoy son of Brendan and Rita, Ballinalee who announced their engagement recently.

Longford Local Authorities Severe Weather Advice: In recent years during severe weather, society in general has become acutely aware of the fact that there are vulnerable people who might require assistance. Longford County Council and other Public Bodies are seeking to ensure that the adequate arrangements are in place to meet the needs of such people. Information leaflets are available at all churches. Please take a copy and read.

Social Dancing: Social dancing classes in Ennybegs Community Centre on Tuesday nights, starting this Tuesday 15th January from 8.00pm – 10.00pm. Refreshments served and there is a small cover chage. Everyone welcome.

Recent Deaths: The death took place in New York of Mary Jane Dolan (nee Lennon) late of Kilmahon Drumlish. To her family, brother, nephews, nieces,relatives and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy. The death took place on January 4th of Dolores C Moriarity formerly O’Neill late of Crowdrummin, Drumlish. To her husband Thomas , sister Rose Marie Garvey , daughters Rose Mary, Dee Dee, Bernadette and son James P, grandchildren relatives and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy. The death also took place at St. Josephs Hospital Longford of Tom Ginty Shanmullagh, Ballinamuck . To his relations and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy. The death took place in New York of Petie Reilly late of Cloonaugh. To Jimmy and Mary and their families New York, Kathleen and Myles Creegan Drumlish, Rose Reilly Cloonaugh, and Jackie and Margaret Devine Edgeworthstown and family we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy. The death took place at Mullingar General Hospital of Maisie Kiernan(nee Reilly) Lettergonnell . Centre celebrates 25 years: A gala weekend to celebrate the 25year anniversary if the community centre and the gathering 2013 is been organised for the may bank holiday weekend 3rd-5th may 2013  a fun filled entertaining weekend is promised for everyone. there has been a facebook page set up for the event if you could like and share it with family and friends at home and abroad we would be grateful. Any old photos or stories that people may have we would appreciate these all will be minded and gave back  these can be dropped into Bridget in the post office.
