St Patrick’s GAA Club
Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Tuesday 23rd March 2015. The Jackpot was €8,250. Numbers drawn - 2 / 15 / 16 / 29 – no winner. €50 each – Bryan McEntee, Woodlands. Bríd Dolan, Kilcogy. Marian Maguire, Dromard. The Jackpot on Tuesday night last 30th March was €8,300. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. The club have an option of paying by direct debit for anyone wishing to join the LOTTO and give the club much needed support. Contact any club officer or check out the club website www.arvagfc.com. On this Saturday evening, Arva will welcome Redhills as visitors to Michael Cully Park for the 3rd round of the Breffni League. It’s a sign of the strides made by the players over the past few years that we now have the top clubs in the county back playing in Arva. While Arva will be short a number of players for this game it should still be an entertaining encounter and we urge all supporters to come along and cheer on the players.
Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June and Bookings for the Pilgrim Section should be made through the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan. Bookings for the Assisted Pilgrim Section should be made with Fr Kevin Fay, Lavey, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan.
Easter Church Services
For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Good Friday 3rd April, Good Friday Service at 8.00pm in Gowna Church. Sunday 5th April - Easter Sunday - Sunrise Service 6.50am outside at Arva Church. If the weather is not good the Service will be held in the Church. Seating will be provided outside for those who require it. This is informal worship with Hymns, Bible Readings, Prayers and Holy Communion for those who wish to receive it. After the service breakfast rolls tea and coffee will be served in the Memorial Hall with Easter Eggs for the children. Arva Church at 9a.m. Easter Praise Service with Holy Communion. Everyone is welcome at both services.
Corlisbratten Methodist Church
Will hold their Easter Sunday Service at 10.00 am in Corlisbratten.
Easter Services in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva – Holy Thursday 2nd April – Mass of the Last Supper at 8.0 pm. Good Friday 3rd April – Our Lord’s Passion and Veneration of the Cross at 3.00 pm. Holy Saturday 4th April at 8.00 pm Easter Vigil. Easter Sunday Mass at 10.00 am.

Church Spring Clean
Will take place this evening 1st April from7.30p.m. We encourage as many as possible to come along and help out. Fr Hannon C.C. is continuing with improvements to the church – the floor tiles got a great cleaning and polishing and painting is ongoing. Trócaire Boxes should be returned this week in notes only.

Confirmation will take place in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva on Sunday 26th April at 3.00 pm. First Holy Communion for the Arva / Coronea area will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea on Saturday, 9th May at 11am. Cemetery Sunday will take place in Coronea at 12 noon on Sunday, 16th August.
St. Mary’s National School Centenary
The book Committee are currently looking for old photos, stories, poems and memories from past pupils of the school. They are also looking for names of past pupils who became priests or nuns over the years. If you can help in any way, please contact the school on 049-4335560.
The Parents Association are holding an Easter Draw and Cake Sale on Easter Sunday after Mass at 11.00am in St Patrick’s Hall. Lines are currently on sale in all the local shops and the Post Office. All proceeds towards the Centenary Celebrations. Great prizes on offer including Ed Sheeran tickets and Easter Hampers. The Parents Association would also greatly appreciate any donations of cakes and buns etc for the cake sale. These can be left into the Hall before Mass on Easter Sunday.
Continues in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva each Sunday night with €3,190 in prize money to be won each week - it is one of the biggest around – Eyes Down at 9pm.
Arva Trotters are hosting the Easter Bunny 10k Hop and 7k Chicken Run on Easter Saturday. Prizes for best dressed Adult and Child Bunnies! Starting at the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva at 12 noon. Donations made on the day will go to Enable Ireland.
Gentle exercises and activities continue in St Patrick’s Hall every Tuesday at 10am. New members welcome.
Sale of Work
Will take place this year on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd May. Donations of clean unwanted ladies, gents and children’s clothes, curtains, shoes, belts, soft toys and books. Also small electrical goods (in perfect working order), small piece’s of household furniture, brick-a-brac, etc would be appreciated. Coffee morning as usual on this Friday - Good Friday 3rd April at 10.30am in the Breffni Arms Hotel. Names and deposits of €100 for the upcoming trip to Carlingford will be taken. This 5 day trip from 22nd to 26th June incl will be based in the Ballymascanlon Hotel.
Arva Trotters meet at the Breffni Arms Hotel each Sunday at 11.15am and Thursdays at 8.00 pm. Everyone welcome to join in.
The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday night in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. Beginners at 8.30 pm followed by the more advanced at 9.30 pm. So get those dancing shoes ready for nights of fun and craic in a friendly atmosphere.
Arva Branch Library will close for Easter on this Thursday 2nd April at 8.30pm and will re-open on Thursday 16th April at 2pm.
