“The Real McCoy”
We would like to compliment the cast and production team on the staging of the hilarious comedy “The Real McCoy” in the Aurora Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday last to capacity audiences. A big thank you to all that sponsored supported or helped in any way. It was very well received and gave everyone a good laugh. Due to unprecedented demand it is hoped to stage it one more night. A date has not been set but it will be well publicised in the Longford Leader.
Ceremonies for Easter in the parish are as follows - On Tuesday at 7.00pm Penance Services in St Mary’s Church, Legan. Holy Thursday Chrism Mass in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11.00am, Mass of the Last Supper in Legan at 7.30pm. Good Friday ceremonies in St Anne’s Church, Ballycloghan at 3.00pm. Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday at 9.00pm in St Mary’s Church, Legan. Dawn Mass in the New Cemetery Legan on Easter Sunday. St Anne’s Ballycloghan Mass at 10.00am and Legan at 11.00am.

Longford Ploughing Committee have selected Legan for the 81st Annual Ploughing Championship and Field Day on Sunday 12th April. Preparations are well underway and we hope the weather will be kind. The host Farmers are Pauric Dalton and Frank Lyons and the venue is Foxhall. This is the most prestigious outdoor field event of the year and will include the only Celebrity Challenge in Ireland. Hopefully weather permitting a great day of good ploughing and good general entertainment will be had by all the family.
Results of last week’s Legan Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Slowey’s on Friday night for a jackpot of €6,950. Numbers drawn were 3, 10, 14 and 22. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Phil Slowey and Peter Boylan each win €40. This week’s draw takes place in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €7,000. Club members in charge of draw for month of April are Johnny and Maureen Boyce.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 23rd March in The Hill, Carrickboy for jackpot of €10,000. Numbers drawn were 7, 14, 15 and 26. There was no jackpot winner. There was no match three winner. Special draw winners of €50 each were Linda Burke, Legan and Holly Keary, Rathowen. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s Bar and results will be published next week.
Well done to the Senior Scór competitors who represented Legan Sarsfield GAA Club and Longford in the Leinster final in Ballymore, Co Westmeath on Sunday evening last. Taking part in Novelty Act and Recitation they performed very well but unfortunately were unsuccessful on this occasion.
