Bog Lane Theatre: The Bog lane Theatre is proud to host its 22nd consecutive One Act Drama Festival. The Adjudicator this year is Ailbhe Garvey-Hughes who has had a long involvement with Theatre in Ireland.Nine plays will be performed over the three nights, four in the confined section and five in the Open section of the competition. The groups involved come from Cork, Dublin, Galway, Wicklow and Wexford. Local interest is represented by the participation of Backstage Theatre, Longford and Athlone Little Theatre. The groups in both sections will compete for a nomination to the One Act All Ireland Finals which will be held in Ballyduff, West Waterford in early December. On Friday and Saturday night, the plays will commence at 8.15p.m. and on Sunday 11th November at 7.15p.m. Booking can be done with Breege at 09064 32230. Tickets are twelve and ten euro.

u-21 football: Well done to Ballymahon/Forgney U-21 football team who beat Carrickedmond/Legan on saturday evening last in Carrickedmond.
Sympathy: We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Maureen Curran, Creevaghbeg and to all her family on the death last of Maureen’s sister-in-law, Mrs Vera Maguire, Eden House, Blacklion, Cavan, and also to Vera’s family, Kenny, Sharon, Sonya, Neven, David, Naomi, Suzanne, Allan and Karlous and all her relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
School holidays: We hope that all the teachers and pupils in all the local Schools enjoy their mid-term break this week.
ART CLUB:An Art Club is being held each Monday evening from 5.45 to 7.15 at the Dean Egan Bridgeways Resource Centre across from St Matthews Church. The classes are being given by Frances Kelleher and are open to everyone, male and female, beginner and improver. The fee is 5 euro per session. Please bring along your pencil,sketch and eraser, although materials will be provided. Please feel free to bring any of your own art equipment both work and materials if you have any.

DEATH OF MIKE MCGANN: It was with deep regret that we learned of the death at 94 years old of Mr Mick McGann, Sli na Mona, Ballymahon and formerly from Corlea Kenagh. A grand quiet gentleman, Mick worked in the building game all his life and worked for a long number of years with the late Gerry McManus Terlicken. He was a hard working and conscientious man who also loved meeting people, socialising when he could. Mick’s remains were laid to rest at Kilcommock cemetery. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. May God grant rest to his soul.
BRIDGE CLASSES: Bridge classes for beginners have commenced in Cooneys Hotel on Tuesday at 8pm.All are welcome. No booking required. Just turn up.
CHURCH READERS: There are many people in the parish who could act as readers or Ministers of the Word,as they are called officially. You are invited by Fr Padraig to put your name forward or you may be asked to become a reader. If you are please accept. By accepting you will be fulfilling an important ministry in your local parish community.
GALA CONCERT: A Gala concert in aid of Ballymahon’s Day Care Centre will be held in the Loft at Cooneys Hotel on Monday 10th December 2012. Admission is 10 euro. AUTUMN STATIONS: Some people have expressed to Fr Padraig an interest in having a station mass in their homes and he hopes to organise a number of these in the next few weeks. Many new families have moved into the parish in recent years and among other things a station mass is a special opportunity for people to get to know their new neighbours who also in due course,may decide to have a station mass in their own homes. Please contact Fr Padraig at the presbytery if you would like to have the station mass in their home.
SCOUTS: The scouts of Ballymahon are wondering if anyone has uniforms or necker which they are not using anymore. Could they please donate them back to the scouts or if anyone has camping gear that they don’t need that would be very welcome also. You can drop them into the Asthma Charity shop in Ballymahon and tell them its for the scouts. Your help would be much appreciated.
NOVEMBER BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE: The November book of Remembrance is available in the Church so that you can list those people who you wish to be remembered in all parish masses during November. In addition the 10am mass on Fridays in November will be a special mass for the deceased relatives of members of the parish community.
