Bunlahy Area Action Group host Operation Transformation, starting Sunday, 25th of January at 12.30pm, in Creegan’s Bunlahy (Outside not inside J ). We invite everyone to come along, get fit and loose a few pounds . The program will run for 8 weeks. Entry will be €50. This entitles you to 8 one hour fitness classes in Canon Kelly Hall, every Tuesday night at 8 o’clock. Every Sunday morning, starting on the 25th, there will an organised walk/run at 9am from Bunlahy, followed by a ‘weigh-in’. All ‘weigh-ins’ will be carried out in a discrete manner. There will be prizes at completion for individuals and teams who have the greatest percentage weight loss. Cycle & Climb
The 5th Annual Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb will take place on Sunday, May 31st. This unique event is challenging and most rewarding, with 147km cycle and a 3-3.5 hour climb on Croagh Patrick. So there is plenty of time to train and we will look forward to another very successful day on May 31st. Details on registration will be available in the coming weeks.
Golfer of the year
Congratulations and well done to Leon Fagan, Killeen who was the winner of the Player of the Year in the Greville Arms Golfing society recently. Another lovely trophy to put with all the rest, Leon.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the relatives neighbours and friends of Bridie Reynolds, Coolcor who passed to her eternal reward on Saturday last. Bridie was the last surviving member of the Reynolds family of the Pipers Cross and she was laid to rest in the family plot in Granardkille following Mass on Monday morning. May she rest in peace.
On Friday evening last a number of private houses in the area were broken into while the owners were away and property removed. We encourage all to be vigilant and to note the reg number of strange vehicles acting suspiciously and to contact the guards immediately.
Congratulations to Louise, daughter of Gene and Breeda Farrelly, Ballinalee and Shane, son of Seamus and the late Rosaleen Prunty, Ballinamuck who were united in holy marriage on December 27th last in the Holy Trinity church in Ballinalee. The wedding ceremony was performed by Louise’s uncle, Rev. Seamus O’Rourke assisted by Canon Brian Brennan PP Ballinalee. We join with the Farrelly and Prunty families in wishing Louise and Shane a long and happy life together.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Eilish and Pat O’Hara and family, Toneywarden on the death last week of Eilish’s mother, Mrs. Lily Walsh in Bagnalstown, Co. Carlow. May she rest in peace.
The annual Clonfin commemoration ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 1st with Mass at 11-30 am and the ceremony in Clonfin at 3pm.
