Historical AGM

The first general meeting of the North Westmeath Historical Society (NWHS) will take place in Hotel Castlepollard on Tuesday night, January 29th, commencing at 8pm. All are welcome.

The local, North Westmeath and wider community were saddened to learn of the death which took place, peacefully, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Thursday, January 15th, 2015, of Mr. Thomas (Tommy) McCormack, Ankerland, Fore, Co. Westmeath. The remains reposed at his residence on Saturday, January 17th, from 2pm until removal at 5.30pm to St. Feichin’s Church, Fore, arriving at 5.50pm. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Tommy was a member of an old respected local family, and had been predeceased by his son Michael, and more recently by his beloved wife Doreen. A quiet, friendly and obliging neighbour, devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed not alone by his immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his son Patrick, daughters Heather and Margaret, brother, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and wide circle of friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
