Mass at 8p.m. in Boherquill this Friday, 23rd is in memory of the late Tom O’ Sullivan and the 11a.m. Mass this Sunday, 25th January is a Month’s Memory Mass for the late Jeff Devine.


The Pastoral Council welcomes Seamus O’Rourke on February, 14th with his play, “Padraig Potts Guide to Walking”. Your support for this parish Fundraiser will be much appreciated. Further details regarding ticket sales etc. in the weeks ahead.

Pastoral Council

Met last week when the agenda included the play on February 14th to raise parish funds to help reduce the parish debt of €100k plus selling off parish sites/land to meet this debt following refurbishment of St. Mary’s Church, Boherquill and organising a committee for Coolamber cemetery as well as setting up a new counting rota for the weekly collections.

Bishop Francis

Has been travelling all around the Diocese over the last few months meeting the various Pastoral Councils to discuss ideas about their own parish as well as the diocese in general and he hopes to come to the next Pastoral Council meeting on Tuesday, 10th February, so if there is anything you would like to bring to his attention perhaps you could contact him yourself or get in touch with any of our Pastoral Council who are: - John White, Kathleen McGivern, Edel Kiernan, Michael Fagan, Mgr. Earley or Fr. Joe McGrath.

Longford County Council

Have indicated that the local community needs to form a little group to oversee the maintenance of Coolamber Cemetery, so it is hoped to hold a very short public meeting after mass on Sunday, 25th at approx. 11.45a.m. for all families, relatives, parishioners and friends who have any connection with Coolamber Cemetery. Please, if you know people living away from the parish, tell them.

Walk for St Christopher’s

Chairman of Edgeworthstown branch of St. Christopher’s, Eamon Carthy attended and thanked all the large crowd who walked to raise funds last Sunday, 11th for St. Christopher’s, Longford. The walk started and ended at Streete Parish Park with tea etc. for all as well as a raffle. Boherquill Ramblers were thanked for their members’ participation, Marian Denning, Tracey Carthy, Linda Butler, Mary Fagan etc. for tea, sandwiches etc. and Declan Carthy the main organiser of the walk which raised a massive €900. Well done and thanks to all.

Historical AGM

Wildlife Club

On behalf of all club members we offer our sympathy to our Vice Chairman, Joe Kelly and his family on the death of his father, Michael, and also to the Meehan family, Rath on the death of their mother. Boherquill Ramblers

St. Christopher’s Services provide invaluable support for people with disabilities over a large area of Counties Longford and Westmeath and the Ramblers were pleased to join many others for a walk in Streete to raise funds for the Edgeworthstown branch of the Services on Sunday January 11th. The loop walk started at Streete Parish Park and was followed by tea, sandwiches and a raffle back at the Parish Park. The Ramblers will walk in Clonkill near Mullingar on Sunday January 25th. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at Clonkill GAA Clubhouse at 2pm for a 7km walk.

The 2015 Ramblers annual general meeting will be held in Streete Parish Park on Sunday February 22nd. There will be a local walk starting from the Parish Park at 2pm and the Meeting will commence at 4pm. Details of Ramblers activities can be found at
