DEATH: There was an air of genuine sadness when the death of Mary Kate Hewitt was announced last Sunday Aug 19. Mary Kate (nee Dowd) was a native of Polllagh Newtowncashel where she lived with her late husband Michael for many years after they were married and reared their ten children. They came to reside at Aughnacrannagh in more recent years when they had their family reared. During her time living near Kenagh she became very well known and very popular with all her neighbours throughout the parish. She was a very dedicated mother to her large family which was very evident during her funeral mass where her children and grandchildren expressed their gratitude to her for being a life long friend. Her funeral mass was very well attended by a large congregation both from her native Newtowncashel and also from her late husband’s parish of Kenagh. She spent her reclining years living in with her son Michael in Gurteen. To her sons Michael Liam Cyril Raymond and Paul, daughters Mary Sheila Dolores Noleen and Rosaleen, sister Sheila brothers Bernie and Michael ,grandchildren ,great grandchildren, daughters in law sons in law and a large circle of relatives and friends we offer sincere sympathy.
