Defibrillator Training A refresher class for all wishing to brush up on their skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place in St Sinneach’s Hall, Carrickedmond in November. A class for new people who would like to learn the important skills of CPR will also take place in St Sinneach’s hall before Christmas. This class will commence at 7:30pm on dates to be announced soon. Hard Luck To the Colehill school girls football team who were defeated by Colmcille on Saturday last in the division 2 league final played in Pearse Park Longford.

Badminton

Badminton continues in St Sinneach’s Hall, Carrickedmond on Wednesday nights. New members welcome.

House Stations

Autumn house stations continue in November for the following areas. At the home of Nan Farrell for the Lisakitt/Glebe/Carrickedmond areas on the 21st November at 8pm. At the home of Peter and Elizabeth Farrell, Curracreehan area on the 28th November at 8pm. At the home of Geraldine Steward for the Doory/Currabaen/Listubbitt areas on the 5th December at 8pm.

GAA

Are launching their development fund project on Saturday night next the 15th November at 8:30pm in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule. At present the club are undertaking a major development. The installation of a modern sports drainage system on the main pitch in Carrickedmond is currently underway and is backed by Carrickedmond GAA senior club, Carrick/Sarsfields minor club and Carrickedmond Ladies club. The aim of this project is to ensure that a state of the art sports drainage system is installed in the Michael Moran Park to ensure the highest standard of surface for playing games for all grades in the years ahead. All are welcome to this launch.

Wedding Bells Congratulations to Barry McDonnell, son of Larry and Bridgie Mc Donnell, Morning and Julie McDonagh, Athboy, Co Meath who celebrated their wedding on Saturday last. The wedding ceremony took place in the St James church, Athboy. Bridesmaids for the occasion were Lisa McDonagh, sister of the bride and Edel McDonnell. Best man on the day was Mark McDonnell and groomsman Paul McDonnell both brothers of the groom. Following the lovely ceremony at which many of the happy couple’s family and friends attended all then made the journey back to the Park Hotel in Mullingar where a lovely wedding reception took place, following which all enjoyed a great night of song and dance. We all join and wish Barry and Julie many happy years of married life together.

Healthy Eating Course With tips for successful weight loss commences on the 18th November 2014 from 7pm to 9pm at the new clinic recently opened by local woman Caroline Ferry and which is located above O’Hanlon’s ‘new’ pharmacy in Ballymahon. Is extended to Jack Newman, Lisnacreevagh on the recent death of his sister, Mary, whose funeral took place in Carrickedmond last week. May she rest in peace.
