Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Monday, 3rd November. Jackpot €7,250 – Numbers drawn 5 / 8 / 27 / 28 – No winner. €50 each – P.J. McStay, Enaughan, Aughnacliffe. B O’Malley, Carrigallen. Pauline McGovern. The Jackpot on Monday night last 10th November was €7,300. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. G.A.A. Awards: Arva have two players nominated for the Cavan County Board Junior Player of the Year Award at the Annual Awards night in the Kilmore Hotel on Friday of next week. Jonathan Mc Cabe and James Morris are joined by Liam Buchannan Goldrick from Ballymachugh as the three nominees. James will collect a Leinster Junior Championship Medal and an All Ireland Junior Championship Medal on the night. Jonathan will collect an Ulster U 21 Medal while Ciaran Brady will collect an Ulster U-21, Leinster Junior and All Ireland Junior medals in what should be a great night. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Club Secretary Eddie Ward as tickets are limited. The Senior and Intermediate Player of the Year will also be announced on the night while Martin Reilly, Killygarry has been selected as the Club Breffni “Senior County Player of the Year”. Martin’s father Padraig hails from nearby Enaughan.
Race Nite: The Arva GAA Club are holding a Race Nite on 26th December and members are looking for people to support their efforts. It should be a great evenings craic with hopefully lots of people home for the Festive Season and it will provide an ideal opportunity to meet up with old friends. Horses are on sale at €20 each. Congratulations are extended to James Morris, Ciaran Brady and Johnathan McCabe who have been nominated for the Breffni Al Stars and also Ciaran Brady who has been nominated for the Manager Award. The function is on this Saturday night in the Cavan Crystal Hotel and anyone wishing to get tickets should contact Eddie Ward A.S.A.P. This awards night is organised by Munterconnacht G.A.A Club and is their second annual night.

St. Mary’s National School, Arva will celebrate its Centenary Year in 2015. They will have a weekend of celebrations on the October bank Holiday weekend next year, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October. These celebrations will include a Special Mass in the Church followed by an Open Evening in the school on the Saturday and a Dinner Dance on the Sunday night. They will also be launching a Special Book to commemorate the occasion and are extending an invite to all past pupils and staff to help in spreading the word. They are also looking for old class photos, stories, work samples etc that could be included in the book. A special email account has been set up firstname.lastname@example.org for anyone who would like to send us on some information or photos. A facebook page for the event will be set up shortly too. The Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group held a Concert on Friday night last in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva featuring the Mullahoran Players and other local artists. What a night of entertainment with a packed audience. Great credit to everyone taking part and Gerry Brady who as usual done a great job as MC. All proceeds go to the Irish Cancer Society, Oncology Unit’s in Cavan General Hospital and Altnagevlin Hospital, Derry.
Arva Foróige Club meeting’s every Friday in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva at 7.30 pm for second level students.
The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva with classes for beginners at 8.30 pm and for the more advanced at 9.30pm. Come along and enjoy a good night of dancing and fun.

Adapted exercise continues each Tuesday morning in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva at 10 o’clock. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.
Congratulations to Daniel Madigan who won silver medals at Swim Connacht ‘A’ (Division 1) Galas in Castlebar and Longford recently. Daniel also got his first Swim Ireland National Division 2 Championships Qualifying Time of the season, at a Swim Connacht ‘A’ Gala in Claremorris last weekend.
