MRS MARY ELLEN SHERIDAN: There was widespread regret with the news of the death on Friday at Cavan General Hospital following a short illness of Mrs Mary Ellen Sheridan Marahill Crossdoney. A member of the highly respected Carty family of Cornameen Ballinagh Mary Ellen was a lady of the highest calibre who had always a warm and friendly smile blessed with a friendly personality and general good humour she could light up any situation with her charisma and engaging personality. A lady with a deep religious faith she was extremely charitable to people in need and was a kind and helpful neighbour. Her passing is widely mourned. Predceased by her husband William (Willie) brothers Eddie and Con and sister Bridget (Bessie) Carty she is survived by her sons Noel Liam and Con Sheridan grandchildren and extended family to whom I extend the sympathy of our community. There was a very large attendance at the removal of the remains on Sunday evening from Finnegans funeral home to St Patricks Church Drumcor and again at the funeral on Monday which bore ample testimony of the esteem with which the deceased and her family are held within the region with burial taking place following concelebrated Mass in the adjoining cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
