On Saturday evening next, June 28th, the Leitrim minors kick off their Connacht championship campaign with their long awaited game against near neighbours, Roscommon. It has a 7.30pm throw-in time. Leitrim have been on a roll so far in 2014 but they will need to be sharp next weekend as opposing teams are usually at their best at championship time. We wish Jack Heslin, David Mulvey and their team mates and management the very best of luck in Hyde Park. The Leitrim seniors travel on the same day to engage Down in the championship qualifier and we wish them success. Well done to Longford on their great display and fine win over Derry last weekend.
Congratulations to Rachel and Aidan Quinn on the birth of their twin daughters, Abbie and Emma - two little sisters for Roise. Also congrats to their grandparents, Helena and Mick Dorrigan and Breege and Eamon Quinn.
The death took place last week of Bridie Creegan, Knocklongford and formerly of Cloncoose at Sligo Regional Hospital. Her remains were removed to St Patrick’s Church, on Wednesday evening and after her funeral mass on Thursday was laid to rest in Ballinamuck cemetery. Bridie, who was in her 92nd year, was a very pleasant lady and although she lived in Mohill for some years, she kept very much in touch with all the happenings in her home parish of Gortletteragh by young or old. We tender sympathy with her sons and daughters, Anne, Jim, Gerri, Monica, Mary, Elizabeth and Malachy, her sister Nan, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, relatives and friends.
May she rest in peace.
