The late Padraic Burke

The entire North Westmeath community, and further afield, were saddened to learn of the death following a long illness, bravely borne, on Tuesday, June 10th in the exceptional care of the staff in the Heart/Lung Transplant Ward, Mater Hospital, Dublin, of Mr. Padraic Burke, Kiltoom, Castlepollard. The remains reposed at his home in Kiltoom on Wednesday, June 11th, with rosary at 9.00pm, and removal took place on Thursday, June 12th to the Church of St. John the Baptist, Whitehall, Castlepollard, at 7.30pm. The funeral took place following Requiem Mass on Friday, June 13th at 12 noon, after which internment took place in the adjoining cemetery. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Padraic was a member of an old respected family. He was a automobile engineer and worked in the motor trade, and was keenly interested and involved in the GAA. He will be sadly missed, not alone by his immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his brothers John, Walter and Thady, sisters-in-law Marie, Mary and Teresa, niece Rachel, nephews Eanna and Feichlim, other relatives and wide circle of friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
