Pig roasting and barbeque
Family weekend in aid of St Lukes cancer care research at Mitchell’s Bar, Legan, Saturday 28th, annual pig roasting and barbeque over 18s, 10 euro. Food served 9 – 10pm. Music by Two Tones. Sunday, 29th June, outdoor bingo 3 – 5pm. Children’s balloon launch at 6pm with special guest Room to Improve architect, Dermot Bannon.
Well done to all the children who participated in the county finals of community games last weekend and represented Legan/ Ballycloghan admirably. U8 60 metres Hayden Nolan, silver; U8 80 metres Ryan Murphy, silver; 100 metres U10 Shane Burke, bronze; U12 100 metres Elaine Murphy, 100 metres silver. U16 100 metres Grainne Doyle, bronze; U16 1500 metres Jack Nulty, bronze. Congratulations to all concerned. Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 16th June for a jackpot of 9,600 euro. Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 26 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and no match three winner. Special draw winners of 50 euro each were Donald Keogh and Kate Ann Moran. This week’s draw took place in Mitchells and results will be published next week.
This Thursday, June 26th, the Aurora Club head off on a mystery tour. There may still be a small number of seats available. Check with Valerie or Brigid.
Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of 5,050 euro. Numbers drawn were 11, 13, 25, 28. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of 40 euro each were Paddy Donnelly and TJ Keenan. This weeks draw takes place in Mitchell’s for a jackpot of 5100 euro. Tickets now on sale. Inny Anglers would like to thank all the school children and their parents who turned out for the annual childrens day of fishing and barbeque on the canal at Abbeyshrule. We would like to thank everyone who helped out in any way on the day. Also thank you to Mr Bruton for his fine air display on the day. We hope everyone enjoyed the day.
Following the success of last years craft fair, Longford ICA has organised another, even bigger event this year with new crafts added, such as jewellery making and basket weaving. The event takes place on Saturday, 5th July in the Temperance Hall, starting at 10am to 5pm. There will be demonstrations on butter making, quilting, patchwork, knitting and card making. There will also be floral displays and cafe in the civic suite. Admission is free. Irish television cameras will be filming and doing interviews. Ladies from ICA boot camp will also attend on the day. This promises to be a great event so put a note in your diary.
