On Saturday last, April 12th, St Mary’s church was the setting for a lovely wedding when Fr. Simon Cadam assisted by Fr. Brian Brennan united Jolene, daughter of JP and Maureen Dooris, Bunlahy and Sean, son of Sean and Teresa McNamee, Drumderg, Ballinalee. Jolene had Geraldine Moran and Alison McNally as her bridesmaids and Shannon McNamee and Aoiffe McNamee were her junior bridesmaids while Andrew McNamee was bestman and James Dooris was Groomsman. The readers were Martina Brady McNamee and Kath Colville and the prayers of the faithful were by Frank McNamee, Emmet McEvoy, Raymond Carrigy, Brooke Judge, Michelle Wilson and Eileen O’Neill. The gift bearers were Maureen Dooris and Teresa McNamee and the reflection was read by Genevieve McNamee. The sacred music was by Ingrid Madsen. Following the ceremony the bridal party, their families and many friends travelled to the Park Hotel in Mullingar where a beautiful meal awaited them and an evening of great entertainment was provided. We join with the Dooris and McNamee families in wishing Jolene and Sean a long and happy life together.

Cycle and climb
The Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb, from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday June 1st. This is a very enjoyable and rewarding challenge, setting off from Longford at 4:30am to complete the 147km cycle and then take on the 3.5 hour climb of Croagh Patrick. The popularity of this event has grown massively since it began in 2011, and 2014 will be bigger than ever. So there’s plenty of time to get the training in over the coming weeks. Details for registration will be available soon.
