Holy Week Ceremonies
Ceremonies for Holy week start on Wednesday with a Penitential Service and Anointing with Oil of Gladness in St Mary’s Church, Legan at 7pm. On Holy Thursday, Mass of Last Supper in St Anne’s Church, Ballycloghan at 7pm and in St Mary’s, Legan at 8pm. On Good Friday, Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion in St Mary’s, Legan at 3pm and in St Anne’s at 7pm. Easter Paschal Vigil Mass on Easter Saturday in St Mary’s Legan at 9pm. Easter Sunday Dawn Mass in New Cemetery Legan at 6am. Easter Sunday Masses at the usual times, St Anne’s Ballycloghan at 9.30am and St Mary’s Legan at 11.00am.
The final staging of “Big Maggie” by Legan Drama Group will be on Easter Monday night, 21st April in the Aurora Hall. Doors open at 8pm and curtain up at 8.30pm. This promises to be a great night of drama and for a very good cause, so please support. The proceeds of the night will go to Longford Centre for Independent Living. Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw for a jackpot of €4,550. Numbers drawn were 5, 11, 25 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were Dermot Donnelly and Maggie Kirwan. This week’s draw takes place in The Hill, Carrickboy.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 7th April in Connaughton’s, Rathowen for a jackpot of €9,150. Numbers drawn were 1, 6, 17 and 21. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €35 each were Violet Barry, Gerry Nugent and Martin Moran. This week’s took place in Slowey’s and results will be published next week.
Clothing Factory Reunion
Plans are underway for a re-union of all the people who worked in Ballymahon clothing factory, Claffey’s, Dubtex, Balman, Manford and Manford Direct. All past employees of these factories, together with their partners, families and friends are invited, and anyone who would like to attend on the night. The venue is the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Friday 25th April starting at 9pm. All are welcome to join in the fun. Music will be provided by very popular and various artists follow by a disco with Michael Rooney. It promises to be a great night for all and with a chance for you to renew old acquaintances. There will be a Raffle and spot prizes on the night. Donation buckets will be at door and all proceeds will be donated to local charities.
