A social evening will take place in Farrell’s Lounge, Ballinalee on this Thursday, 17 April at 9pm. All Fine Gael candidates in the local elections will be in attendance, together with MEPs Jim Higgins and Mairead McGuinness. Everyone welcome.

Tai Chi with Patrick McHale continues on 24 April at 8.15pm in the Credit Union meeting room. Next monthly meeting takes place on Thursday, 1st May at 8pm. All members are requested to attend and new ones are most welcome.

Rath Mhuire Resource Centre
The centre is delighted and really looking forward to welcoming the Virginia Gospel Choir for a performance on Sunday, 25 May at 6pm in St. Mary’s Church. They will be joined by Jackie Callaghan and other All Ireland winning musicians form the World Academy of Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick as well as our own excellent St. Mary’s Church Choir. This should be a wonderful evening and tickets (€10.00) will be on sale in the coming weeks. All proceeds are guaranteed to go to Rath Mhuire and Dolmen Services for our work in the local community with older people at Rath Mhuire Centre and Dolmen Centre. All roads lead to Granard for the Easter Festival on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 April. The festival kicks off on Saturday morning at 11am with a Historical Walk of Granard led by local historian Jimmy Donohoe. Jimmy’s tour is both very enjoyable and informative as he holds a wealth of knowledge about Granard’s history!
5K Walk /Jog/Run
On Saturday afternoon at 3pm the gruelling 5K Walk/Jog/Run will start at Kiernan Milling on the Ballinalee Road. Entry is €10 per adult and €5 for U16 participants. Prizes are as follows Men 1st €100; 2nd €50; 3rd €25. 1st Ladies 1st €100, 2nd €50 3rd €25 1st u16 €.100; 2nd €50 3rd €25 Registration will take place from 2pm at Kiernan Milling. The death of Frank (Francis) Coyle, Ballinacross, Granard occurred at St. James’ Hospital, Dublin on 10 April. Removal took place from his late residence to St. Bernard’s Church, Abbeylara on Friday, 11 April. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday followed by burial in local cemetery. May he rest in peace. Sympathy is extended to his wife Sellie; son Noel; daughters Margaret; Josephine and Terrie; grandchildren; sister Josephine and extended family circle. The death of Marie Hourican, (nee Rudden), Lisrathigan, Coolarty occurred at her residence on Sunday, 13 April following a long illness bravely borne. Removal took place from her late residence to St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Monday evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 12 noon followed by burial to Granardkille new cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Sympathy is extended to her husband Hugh, children, Ciara, Shona, Aaron and Ryan, extended family, relatives and many friends.
