Tidy Towns

The local Tidy Towns continue to work one evening a week to improve our village. All approach roads will be maintained in due course. More volunteers are needed if we are to get all covered. Contact Michael Carrigy or Padraig Farrell if you wish to help.

Playground

Our new playground will open at 12.30pm on Sunday next with a blessing by both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland clergy. We will also have an Easter egg hunt for the children. See you all on Sunday.

Parish dance

On Easter Sunday night, the annual parish dance will take place in Rawle’s. Proceeds will go towards costs associated with the development of the playground. We have a shortfall of amount 5,000 euro. We would appreciate support from all the parish and parents in particular. You can give a donation into myself or a spot prize for the draw on the night if you wish. We will not be calling to businesses for spot prizes.

Cycle and climb

The 4th Annual Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb, from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday, June 1st. This is a very enjoyable and rewarding challenge, setting off from Longford at 4:30am to complete the 147km cycle and then take on the 3.5 hour climb of Croagh Patrick. The popularity of this event has grown massively since it began in 2011 and 2014 will be bigger than ever. So there’s plenty of time to get the training in over the coming weeks. Details for registration will be available soon.
