SYMPATHY - Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs Kathleen Sheridan and family, Granardkille, Granard on the sudden death of her husband Petie on Wednesday April 13 at St. James Hospital Dublin. Petie worked as a bread sales man and was a very popular man throughout the county. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We also offer sympathy to Petie’s brothers and sisters and extended family. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations to Paul Brady, Mullahoran, who won his eighth All Ireland Senior Singles title in Handball on Sunday April 17 in Abbeylara. He beat Charly Shanks, Armagh. Well done Paul.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

Thursday April 28 9am to 12pm Church Carpark, Gowna. Dochas Nasamu is an Irish registered charity which funds the Dochas Nasamu Orphanage for children with aids in Ikumbi, a small village outside Niarobi, Kenya. We are running a used clothing appeal of ladies/gents and children’s clothing, footwear, household lines (i.e. towels, sheets, blankets etc.) for the orphans and their extended families.

FISHING COMPETITION

Results of Edward Shiels Memborial Fishing Competition that took place on Aughanoran Lake on Sunday April 17. 1 John Donohoe Ballinamuck, 32 lbs11oz, 2 Michael Dalton, Ballymore, Co. Westmeath 22lbs 1oz, 3 William Simpson, Gowna, 19lbs 15oz, Ciaran Lee, Gowna, 15lbs 11oz, Tony McManus, Loughduff, 13lbs 8oz. Nine boats took part with 53 fish caught and released.

FOOTBALL FINAL

We extend best wishes and good luck to the Cavan Under 21 team who will travel to Croke Park on Sunday to take on Galway in the All Ireland U21 Final.
