Bereavement We tender deepest sympathy to Kathleen Leslie and Liz Rogan and their extended families on the recent death of their uncle, Peter Canning, Trim. Co Meath. His funeral took place on Thursday last. May he rest in peace.

Football Fare Well done to Cathal McCrann and his Leitrim team mates on their impressive performance on Sunday last in Páirc Seán when defeating Antrim in their opening National League game. We wish them more of the same on Sunday next in Ennis when they engage Clare in Round 2. There was a nice feature by Cliona Foley in the Irish Independent on Saturday, January 25th on Cathal McCrann, giving us all a good insight into what it takes to be a county footballer in 2014. Cathal has to divide his time between a busy schedule of farming, agricultural contracting and training with the Leitrim team and he leaves nothing to chance in any of his enterprises. They say that if you want something done; ask a busy man or woman. Keep up the good work, Cathal. Well done also to the Leitrim ladies, who had a fine high scoring win over Sligo at the weekend.
