Seamus Hanley Ireland Mascot v Scotland
Congratulations to Seamus Hanley who led out the Irish Team on Sunday last in the Aviva Stadium for the opening Six Nations clash against Scotland. Seamus is son of Matt & Kathleen Hanley, Corry, Newtownforbes. Seamus also got to shake hands with Ireland’s President Michael D Higgins. I’m sure he will have lots of stories to tell his friends at Scoil Mhuire and Longford Rugby Club.
Bingo will be held in the PJ Murphy Sports Hall on Sunday, 9th February at 3pm. €2,500 to be won. Monster raffle on the day.
Training continues every Monday at 7pm in Newtownforbes and Wednesday at 7pm in Kilglass. March grading dates have now been confirmed for both clubs and students who are eligible to apply for grading are asked to ensure that their memberships are up to date. Our next organisational workshop will be held in Ballymahon on the 16th February and attendance is recommended for all students. The focus on the day will be kata, kumite and kubodo. The organisation has a very exciting event coming up in April - from Thursday 3rd April - Monday 7th April Matsubayashi International Ireland will be hosting a very special TOKKO event for Europe for 2014. Over the coming days seminars will be run by a host of instructors with Hanshi Smith & Sensei Alexandru to name a few. This year is going to be one of the biggest events this organisation has ever run with an influx of international visitors from Poland, England, United States, United Kingdom to name a few . This event has being possible due to the hard work by all organisation members. We would like to take this opportunity to invite all other Matsubayashi Practitioners in Ireland to join this event as all are welcome.
St. Valentine’s Day
A Special Mass will be celebrated in Clonguish Parish Church at 7pm on St. Valentine’s Day as part of the 150 Anniversary Celebrations of the Church - “LOVE IS A SPECIAL GIFT, ESPECIALLY IN MARRIAGE”. We invite all couples, including engaged, recently married and those not so recently married to come to this mass. If you are celebrating an important anniversary (25, 40, 50, etc.) please let Fr. McGovern know and you are especially welcome. A guest speaker from ACCORD will give Homily.
Blood Donor Clinic
This clinic is on in the Longford Arms Hotel on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th February from 4.30 to 8.00pm.
Thursday Club will resume on Thursday, 6th February from 2pm – 4pm in the Parish Hall. New members over 50 always welcome. On the following Thursday, 13th February a guest speaker will attend to talk on Fair Deal and various other issues.
Social Dancing will take place in the Chestnut Tree, Killashee with Eamonn Cunniss. He’s mighty. You are guaranteed a full work out. Very lively and colourful character. Great Music. Perfect venue. Do come along and enjoy every Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
The next First Friday/Saturday Reparation and Adoration vigil to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary is in the Chapel of Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown on Friday the 7th of February commencing at 10 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain special graces and to make reparation. Also, one has the opportunity to experience the healing and strength of the Sacrament of Confession and holy Mass and lots more. All are welcome.
