Triplets for Joe and Evelyn - Congratulations to Evelyn and Joe Meagher Derawley Drumlish on the recent birth of their triplets, their first babies born at the Rotunda Hospital Dublin this week.
The babies two girls and a boy will be named Niamh, Áine and Conor. Both mother and babies are doing well thank God. Joe is a native of Dublin and Evelyn is a native of Donegal and they live happily in their new house in Derawley Drumlish. We join their families, neighbours and friends in wishing them every blessing and success with their new family and hope their triplets bring lots of joy and happiness to them both.
Drumlish Community Association
The recent function in the Village Inn Drumlish for Drumlish Community Association was a great success. The committee wishes to thank the following; Thomas and Ellen Cassidy for their generous contribution. Thanks to Seamus and Anne Keane of Costcutters, Charles and Margaret Kiernan of Centra, Sean and Theresa Whitney of Emo, Leo Devaney of Leo’s Bar and Steakhouse, all of whom donated spot prizes. A special thanks to Ashling, Barry and Adrian from The Dance On Band and Joe, Gary, Philip, Henry and Paddy from Nite Fever who performed along with Busy Fingers on the night. Thanks to Helena and Anne who sold tickets for raffle and everyone who supported the function. A great night was had by all.
Community Games Sports Day
Drumlish Ballinamuck Community Games Annual Sports |Day will take place in Monaduff on Sunday May 15th 2pm -6pm. €2 per child, €5 per family . Volunteers are needed to help out on the day and should contact any committee member. Hard Luck to our Community Games U12 Soccer team who took on Killoe in the County final on Tuesday last 19th April in the New Shane Brennan Memorial Pitch. Our team was Ciaran Gorman, Conor Keenan, Cian Murphy, Matthew Dadura, Michael Mc Kenna, Michael Courtney, Cian Cassidy, Eoin Howe, Timothy Bouvin, Andrew Mc Kenna, Ryan Crowe, Brendan Mc Cann, Luke Mc Intyre, Brian O’ Connor and Cathal Culliney. All the team should be proud of their efforts and we wish Killoe the best of luck in the remainder of the competition.
Open Day at Paddy and Mary’s Garden
It is that time of year again when Paddy and Mary Gillooley hold an Open Day at their Garden, Mill Rd. Drumlish on Saturday June 4th 2011 in aid of the Longford Wheelchair Association. Subscription is optional on the day. All are welcome. Tea/Coffee served with home-cooked goodies free of charge. Your support would be sincerely appreciated. The Garden will be open from 11.00am – 6.30pm.
21st Birthday for Aaron
Congratulations to Aaron Quinn, son of Paddy and Joanne who celebrated his 21st birthday last weekend. We hear he had the mother and father of a party at the house on the Hill Rd. Happy birthday Aaron and hope you enjoy many more wonderful years and birthdays.
Welcome into the Christian community to Cormack William Walsh, Aughadowry who was baptised in St. Patrick’s Church Ballinamuck on Sunday 17th April. Congratulations also to his parents.
A social afternoon will take place at Monaduff on Saturday next April 30th from 3 – 5pm – usual transport available.
C.A.S.A. say thanks
C.A.S.A would like to thank all who contributed to their Church Gate collection last weekend – thanks also to those who gave of their time to do the collection.
The Sacrament of the Eucharist will take place in St. Mary’s Church Drumlish on Saturday week May 7th at 12 noon. It will also take place in St. Patrick’s Ballinamuck on May 21st.
Local Girl heads to UGANDA as volunteer
Drumlish local Sinéad Heaney is heading to Uganda as a volunteer this July with A-Z children’s charity. A-Z Children’s Charity is an Irish-founded non profit organisation which aims to provide a better quality of life for orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda by providing them with the education and healthcare they need. Sinead is going over as a teacher in July. She is holding a “Mr & Mrs” fundraising night in Drumlish on Sunday night May 1st in the Bent Elbow to raise funds for the trip. Your support would be sincerely appreciated.
The Drumlish defibrillator group are pleased to announce that there are three more defibrillators in the parish. More details on where these will be located will be in the notes in the coming weeks.
There will be a special blessing of the defibrillators on Saturday the 30th of April by Fr. Bannon after Mass.
Drumlish tidy towns
The committee would like to remind all those bringing trailers of waste to Mulleady’s Waste Recycling Plant to please ensure that your waste is well secured and not blowing off the trailer to the side of the road – the Longford Road has just been cleaned and for the sake of a little care the verges could be litter free for the rest of the Summer. Help us to keep the place litter free please!

Notice to Motorists
The schools of the parish are closed until after the May Bank Holiday next weekend. Please watch out for unsuspecting children playing especially in this good weather and slow down on all approach roads to villages and towns in the coming weeks.
The outreach information clinics for small holders and farmers living in Co. Longford in the Granard Area Action Group Offices on Wednesdays May 4th and 11th from2.30 – 4.30pm
Sisters of Mercy
A celebration to mark the 150th Anniversary of the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy to Longford Town will take place with a special Mass in St. Mel’s Cathedral Centre St. Mel’s College on Sunday next May 1st 2011 at 3.00pm – a commemorative book will be launched and refreshments served. All are welcome.
