Clonbroney Community Games

Friday night club resumes on Friday, February 7th in the Thomas Ashe Hall at 6.30pm. On that night we will have an indoor athletics coach present who will run an indoor athletics session for the children. Cost is 2 euro per child and 3 euro per family. All are welcome, so come and join in the fun. Activities: any children who are interested in participating in the following activities U13 boys/ Girls Futsal, swimming (all age groups) and talent, please come to the Thomas Ashe hall on Friday February 7th at 6.30pm and sign up with one of the committee. We are also looking for adult volunteers who will train and mentor the children in these activities so if you are interested in doing so please also come along on that night and leave your name and number with one of the community games committee. The U10 handwriting competition will take place in Scoil Samhthann in the coming weeks: We would like to thank the staff of the school for their continuing support. Entries for the handwriting can also be dropped into Carrigy’s shop. Entries must be in before the 28th of February. Well done to all who participated in the community games quiz on Friday night last in the Park House in Edgeworthstown. It was great to see such a good turnout. Also congratulations to our U10 girls and U13 boys indoor soccer teams who both won their matches in Kenagh on Sunday last.

Safety works

Safety works will be done this year at the junction beside Clonbroney Church. There have been a number of accidents there in recent years and I’m confident that these works will make it safe for all road users.

Baby girl

Congrats to Patrick and Tina Lonergan, nee Murphy, Soran, now living in Galway on the birth of their first child, a baby girl.

Choir practice

We will commence rehearsal for choir on Monday night, February 10th at 8pm. All members who will be available are asked to attend. New members welcome.

The Sean Connollys GAA Club AGM took place on Friday night last with a good attendance. There are three new officers elected on the night. Secretary Pauline Brady; PRO James Vessey and Dolores Reilly children’s officer. See Sean Connollys notes in the sports section.

Flying column

Tonight Wednesday at 8pm in the Thomas Ashe Hall, Ballinalee, Martin Morris will give a talk on the north Longford flying column. Following from his talk on Sean MacEoin last summer, this should prove to be very informative.
