Our Drama Group have been working hard over the past couple of months on their forthcoming production of the John B Keane play Big Maggie. The end product is now in sight and dates have been set for casting. Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd are dates set for curtain up. Baby Boy

Congratulations to Lisamai and Joseph Cullen, Corracorkey, on the birth of their baby boy at the General Hospital Mullingar last weekend. Isaac is a welcome first child for the couple and for the grandparents, Joan and Frank Cullen, Newport. We understand mother and baby Isaac are doing well.

Inny Anglers

Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 5, 8, 12 and 19.There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were Catherine Gunshinan and Brendan Conway. This week’s draw takes place in Slowey’s for a jackpot of €4,100. Tickets are now on sale.

First Friday

This Friday is the First Friday of February and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound will be on Thursday and Friday mornings at the usual times.

Blood Transfusion Service

The Blood Transfusion service unit will be in Longford Arms Hotel on today Wednesday and Thursday from 4.30 to 8pm.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 27th January in The Hill, Carrickboy. Numbers drawn were 4, 5, 17 and 18. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €50 each were Sean Kenny and M Ross. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s for a jackpot of €8,600. Results will be published next week.

Social Dancing

Social Dancing classes every Sunday evening from 5.00—7.00pm in The Chestnut Tree Killashee with all-Ireland champion Eamonn Cunniss. Perfect your Jiving, Quick step, Waltzes, Stack of Barley and Shoe the Donkey. Couples planning on getting married this is an opportunity to practice your dances. All ages and abilities welcome.


Anyone interested in taking part in an event to raise awareness of Mental Health are invited to the February monthly meeting of Legan ICA Guild which will be held on Tuesday 11th February in the GAA Clubhouse at 8.00pm. You are asked to wear” Funky Shoes” to the meeting and contribute whatever you wish. A fun table quiz will follow. Refreshment will also be served.

Pet Reunited

Brandy a collie dog belonging to Avril Moran, Cluntymullen went missing almost a year ago while being walked in the Mall. Despite endless searches no trace was found. Avril continued her search through fliers, notices and through Facebook and Shannonside. She never gave up hope and was rewarded last week when Brandy was spotted in Longford and is now back home with the family.

Alpha Course

An Alpa Course which is designed for all who want to know more about Christianity including those involved in passing on the faith to the young will commence this Thursday 6th February in The Family Centre Longford starting at 8.00pm.
