Death of Nora O’Rourke - The death occurred on April 18th of Nora O’Rourke, Distillery Road, Wexford, widow of Seamus O’Rourke, formerly of St. Brigid’s Street, Ballinamore. Formerly Nora Whyte,
The deceased married her husband Seamus shortly after he left Ballinamore to open a confectionery and grocery shop at Bridgefoot Street, Dublin, just off the Quays, where they did a thriving business until their retirement, when they went to live at Blessington Street in the city. The O’Rourke family had lived in the Station House on St. Brigid’s Street, where the Cavan-Leitrim Narrow Guage railway crossed the road on the Mohill and Drumshanbo lines. Only two members of the family are still living, sister Sarah and her brother Sean, both of whom are based in England. Some months ago their brother Fr.Paddy O’Rourke CMF died after a short illness. Seamus O’Rourke and his wife Nora had seven sons, Jimmy, Pat, Frank, Tony, Brian, Sean and Paul and we extend sincere sympathy to them and to all the extended family. The deceased was buried in Balgriffin Cemetery, Dublin, after funeral prayers in Berkeley Road Church on Holy Thursday, April 21st. May she rest in peace.
