Coffee Morning

The Annual Hospice Coffee morning fundraiser will take place after Mass in St Anne’s Hall, Ballycloghan, this Saturday 21st September and after Mass in Legan GAA Clubhouse on Sunday 22nd September. This is Irelands largest Coffee Morning which raised much needed funds for Hospice Homecare for patients and their families who are suffering from cancer. All money raised will go to Longford Hospice Homecare service. A sale of homemade cakes, scones and confectionery will also take place. Please support this very worthy cause.

Blessing of Graves in the New Cemetery, Legan takes place after 11.00am Mass this Sunday 22nd September.

Inny Anglers

Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Molihan’s, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €3,100. Numbers drawn were 3, 16, 24 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were of €40 each were Sean Kenny and Veronica Donnelly. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchells for a jackpot of €3,150.


We extend deepest sympathy to the Bannon family, Carrickboy and extended relatives on the death of Jimmy Bannon, Barneyline, Ardagh. Jimmy passed away peacefully at the General Hospital Mullingar after a short illness on Thursday last. A daily visitor to Legan where he did his shopping he will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brother Vincent, sisters Eithne, Maisie and Lily, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He was laid to rest following Requiem Mass on Saturday in Ardagh. May he rest in Peace.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday 9th September in Molihan’s Carrickboy for a jackpot of €7,600. Numbers drawn were 13, 15, 19, 21and 21. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €50 each were Tony Rooney and Ann Butler. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.

Work 4 You

Work4You set up by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provides a free Vocational assessment for individuals who have an acquired brain injury and want support to return to work, training or education. It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury, aged 16-65 and in receipt of a payment from the Department of Social Protection. For further information please call 0449338773.

Drama Committee

A very well attended Annual General Meeting of Legan Drama Group took place on Saturday last. The following committee was elected: Chairman Liam Butler; Secretary Mary Connell; Treasurer Annemarie Donohoe; PRO Colm Ward. Readings for a forthcoming production is underway. The next meeting takes place this Thursday 19th September at 9pm. Anyone interested please come along as new members are always welcome.

Wind Turbine

The Legan and Ballycloughan Wind Turbine Awareness group have produced a leaflet which we will be delivering to all homes in the local area over the next couple of weeks.
