Folk Group Rehearsals for the newly formed Carrickedmond folk group continue on Wednesday evening’s in Carrickedmond church from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Anyone who can play a musical instrument or who is interested in signing is welcome to come along. The date for the first folk mass is Sunday the 29th September at 10am in Carrickedmond. The group will perform once a month there after on the last Sunday of each month at 10am mass in Carrickedmond. If you would like to join the group please come along to the practice on Wednesday evenings.

House Stations The autumn stations will commence next week and will take place in the following homes. Thursday 12th Sept in the home of Sean and Val Delaney at 8pm for the Toome area. Friday 13th Sept in the home of Caroline Ferry at 8pm for the Currabawn area. Wednesday 2nd Oct in the home of Joe Lennon for the Aghanvally area. Friday the 11th Oct in the home of Jimmy Lennon at 8pm for the Currareehan area. Thursday 17th Oct in the home of Jim Mulvey for the Ballintubber area. Friday the 8th Nov in the home of Tom and Bridie Corrigan for the Abbeyderg area.

Annual Newsletter All organisations and individuals who prepare items of interest for the annual Christmas newsletter please have it ready for Wednesday 30th October. Anyone with old photos of interest please contact Fr Tiernan.

Junior Cert Results Congratulations to all the boys and girls from the parish who received their junior cert results last week. According to reports all were very happy with marks achieved.

Clothes Collection There will be a used clothes collection from the car park outside Colehill School on Friday 13th Sept at 9:30am. Everyone is welcome to leave bags of old used clothes, matched shoes, mobile phones and ink cartridges in bags beside the phone box. The collection will donate €3 per bag left out to the school.

Scholarship Ballymahon and district credit union is now accepting entries for its third level scholarship. attend either Ballymahon Vocational school or Ballymahon Secondary school and who is a member of the Ballymahon and District credit union. Applicants must be commencing a FAS apprenticeship or a full time certificate diploma or degree course at any university, IT or approved level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of €1000 per annum for a maximum of three years. Entry forms are available from the credit union office in Ballymahon. Closing date for receipt of entries is the 28th September 2013.

Meeting The local pastoral group will meet in the parish house Carrickedmond on Monday night next the 23rd September at 8pm. All members are asked to attend.

Thanksgiving Over the coming weeks there will be Harvest Thanksgiving Services in the Ardagh Group of Church of Ireland parishes as follows: Sunday September 29th at 3pm in Tashinney church. Sunday October 13th at 3pm in Kenagh church. Everyone is welcome and tea will be served following the service.

Cathedral Restoration

The Cathedral will be open to visitors for viewing from 1:30pm to 4:30pm on Sunday 29th September. Everyone is invited to visit the Cathedral to view building progress to date.

Community Games The local community games group will hold their AGM in the GAA complex Carrickedmond on Tuesday night the 24th Sept at 9pm. All parents from the parish are encouraged to attend.

ICA
Due to lack of active membership for the past year Carrickedmond ICA Guild is about to close. In light of this the ICA Federation are holding an open meeting in Carrickedmond Hall on Wednesday 25th Sept at 8pm to see if there is any new interest in keeping the Guild open with an opportunity for new ladies to become involved in the largest women’s organisation nationally. The ICA offers long term friendship and camadarie among women, crafts, cookery, dancing, walking club, book club and many other indoor/ outdoor social activities. Meetings are held once a month for eight months of the year. If you would like to know more and feel you would like to join a ladies group please come along to this meeting on the 25th where you will be warmly welcomed and the decision to join or not will be entirely your own.

Sympathy Is extended to Bridie McGrath, Keel on the recent death of her mother Kathleen Casserly and to Eithne Noonan, Rath and the Bannon family, Carrickboy, on the death last week of James Bannon, Ardagh. May their souls rest in peace.
