Computer Literacy classes will be starting soon in The Old Schoolhouse, Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown. Courses are part time for adults and will lead to a FETAC Accreditation under the Back to Education Initiative. Longford Volunteer Centre are holding an information session on Thursday 26th September at 10am in The Green, Edgeworthstown. The session is aimed at organisations setting out on the path of engaging volunteers in their group. It is designed to help groups understand the best ways to involve volunteers, understand volunteer expectations, and start on a path to ensuring volunteers become a core and positive part of your organisation.
The session is about 2 hours long, interactive, fun and a good way to meet like minded organisations. It was developed by Volunteer Ireland, the national volunteer development agency, in conjuction with local Volunteer Centres. Joe Callaghan CCE Branch To celebrate Ireland’s National Music Day a Trad Session will be held in the The Green, Edgeworthstown on Friday, 20th September, commencing at 7p.m. All musicians and singers welcome. Admission is free.
Minor Club Nursery is resuming this Sunday 22nd September in the Community Centre from 10am-11am. The Nursery will run for 6 weeks and is open to children between the ages of 4 and 6. Those who attend will be given the opportunity to learn the basic skills of Gaelic Football in a fun-filled environment. We look forward to welcoming back all of the children who have already joined and we would also love to see as many new faces as possible! Registration is free of charge and will take place on Sunday morning. Church gate collection this weekend. For All-Ireland football fans the raffle for All Ireland tickets takes place in Philip Quinn’s on the 19th at 10pm. There was no jackpot winner in the last Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 3, 20, 24, 26. Twenty-five Euro winners were David Harris Rathowen, Thomas Gallagher Bracklin, Gerry Farrell Tinnenaire, Sharon Coyle Ballyconnell.
