Junior Cert results
Well done to all our Junior Cert students on their excellent results. Your teachers and your families are very proud of your achievements and we are looking forward to more of the same for your Leaving Certificate.
Information evening
On Thursday night we had a very successful information evening for parents and pupils in fourth year to help them pick their subjects and get the senior cycle programme off to a good start. Mr Lyons spoke about the importance of attendance, participation and homework whilst Ms O’Brien gave guidelines for creating the optimum study environment. Mr Flanagan spoke about subject choice and Ms Sheehan gave a presentation on the LCVP. Finally Ms Lardner gave a parent-friendly presentation about the CAO and Qualifax with an overview of the points system and how it operates.
Bicycle safety
Bicycle safety for first years will take place on Wednesday, September 18. Please bring your own bike and helmet and get pedalling!
Parents association
There was a parents association meeting on Monday, September 9. Turnout was very high. Thanks to all who attended and support this group who do great work for the school community. The AGM will be taking place later in September.
School lockers
School lockers are available from Joe. Just buy your own lock and you will be allocated your locker.
Shared reading
Shared reading has commenced for first years. This involves parents and students reading together for 10 minutes a day. The programme continues for the next six weeks and is proven to improve reading.
Leaving Certs
Again, we wish our past Leaving Cert class the best in their new life in college. Please stay in touch and the very best of luck from us all in Lanesboro Community College.
