Newtownforbes

Tidy Towns: The Committee would like to wish Eugene Prunty a speedy recovery from his recent illness.
Eugene and Eileen are very valuable members of our group and we will miss their hard work over the next few months while he recuperates. It was highlighted in our Adjudication Report last year that Newtownforbes needs to improve in our Wildlife Category. With this in mind you will have noticed all the nesting boxes that we have placed in trees around the village. In order to attract birds to their new habitats we encourage people to consider planting berry bearing shrubs and trees in their gardens to encourage birds and create a natural food chain. A small amount done by several people would have a huge impact in attracting wildlife. Again can we appeal to dog owners who allow their pets to foul the footpaths to please clean up after them. This is the single biggest litter problem we have in Newtownforbes. Plans for the Gathering Event are continuing and we would remind you to “Save the Date - 2nd June” for the Failte Awaile Barbeque and encourage those away to come to Newtownforbes for the Bank Holiday Weekend.
